Goddamn the exploration in this game is incredible, everywhere looks amazing and I just want to keep going and going until I'm so laden I can barely move.

Random NPC asked me to escort them well outside of known territory, got chased by a loving dragon bellowing challenges at me for half the distance, found a new town, headed north, found ANOTHER dragon fighting a cyclops, escaped into some castle ruins after Experiments With Ballistas Went Awry, and now I'm doing combat riddles for a giant actual goddamn Sphinx.

Game owns.

Is there ever an option to choose what you or your pawn's displayed armor is? Like, equip whatever has the best stats but have it LOOK like something else?

Oh my God I love Meteoron so much. Just calling in a loving howitzer strike. Sorcerer felt a little underpowered before this but the tables have turned.

gently caress it, me and my pawn both gonna roll Sorc just so we can summon skyballs faster.

My Grandma pawn WILL complain all the time, be snarky about most actions the player takes, and split the heavens with her magick.

ZEG6IGHTC9F6 if you need a lvl 50 chaos grandma in your party.

I desperately need a mod that allows my Sorc to hold a bejeweled chalice in his off hand.

After a few days of dual Sorc my only complaint is that certain areas simply are not conducive to Meteoron spam, but it is impossible to predict which. Sometimes they'll noclip through a few miles of solid bedrock to hit an enemy in a cave, sometimes not.

That's why Maelstrom exists, I suppose.

Also, the sorcerer's greatest advantage might be that it is entirely free to pursue fashion, since if you're getting hit at all you're not playing right.

My latest ox cart got ambushed by 2 ogres, 2 packs of red wolves, and 2 packs of goblins simultaneously.

After a half dozen ragdolls I finally managed to get enough altitude and breathing room to clear the field with Maelstrom.

Also, has anyone else noticed disappearing corpses? I swear I'll occasionally blast a cyclops or griffin so hard they're completely obliterated.

So the advantage of warfarer is access to all non-maister skills, but only 3 of them since you need a dedicated weapon swap button? I'm gonna give the Augural flare / Saggitate Downpour combo a go.

After dreading it, I finally bit the bullet on the Sphinx token quest, and honestly it wasn't as bad as I thought.

I didn't even have any portcrystals when I began, but realized I was in some poo poo when she set the one week time limit. Then again, it isn't THAT hard of a quest, considering there are only about a dozen locations where you'd likely pick up your first token. I had an inkling on where that was, if not a specific memory, so I just went back to the starting zone with wiki in hand and methodically checked out all the nearby tokens until I found the right one. Then Ijust burned a ferrystone to the capital and an oxcart to the check point, and sprinted the rest of the way with a day or two to spare.

Gonna fight the heck out of her after I find that stupid parent pawn.

Beat the game, but now I've found myself in the conundrum of wanting to try for a dual fighter / shield only run, but I didn't think to buy any endgame gear for it before i hit NG+, and don't really feel like churning through the whole game just to get back to the ability too buy the gear I want.

Also there's the fact that while unarmed might fare just fine against mooks, I don't exactly want to spend most large monster fights mashing X against weak points.

Might just mod myself the gear and go to town. I just want a pair of Beastren Pride armor for me and my pawn :/

In NG+ you can buy penultimate gear (better than volcanic island) as soon as you reach the capital, and ultimate gear once you open the Dragonforgef shop.

Ooh, that's makes things much better! We'll give it a shot in that case.

I haven't experimented much with this yet, but are there any class skills that can be used independent of weapons? For example, as Warfarer, could I use Implicate without having to equip daggers?

Ok, Punchfighter isn't as much fun as I'd hoped. Can clear out mobs easily enough, and even cyclops aren't much of an issue, but these are still just early game enemies and anything with more than 3 health pips takes an eternity to bring down. Anything that can just run when it gets low (dragons and griffins) will have ample opportunity. Warfarer can't use other class skills without switching to the weapon even if the skill doesn't use it, like Implicate or Roar, making it pretty useless for punch runs, and the range/ speed of punches makes fast and flying enemies a nightmare. Harpies and wolves are no fun, but goblins and saurians are always fun to throw down with.

Most shield skills work just fine without a sword, but I wonder if other classes might also work without their main weapon. I just need a solution to fast/ flying enemies that doesn't involve opening the equipment menu, since you can't use rearmament to switch to unarmed.

Might just wait on some DLC or see if there's a decent unarmed mod, maybe they'll introduce a bloody knuckle ring. At the moment I've got the +damage when lightly encumbered ring and the encumbrance increase ring.

Also, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do a Shoryuken, but I've done it accidentally like 3 times. I think the target needs to be stunned or something? It's definitely not a button combo.

I was curious what a punch run might be like! I wish more games included viable unarmed/fist options

DD1 had an unarmed ring (that was a bitch to acquire, and only in the DLC) that boosted unarmed damage to make it viable, but DD2 doesn't really have any equivalent.

Running around with my buff bro pawn smacking goblins around is fun as heck, but the game certainly wasn't designed around it. Certain enemies are just miserable to engage with on a punch run, and you can imagine how often a fighter pawn with no sword gets hired.

Metereon and Maelstrom are traps, I've found the true ideal Pawn Sorceror loadout:

High Thundermine, Spellhold, and Augural Flare.

Weak enemies get the bzzt bzzt, big dudes get omae wa mou shindeiru.

Spellhold hasn't broken anything as far as I'm aware, unless my pawn is just keeping a spell permanently in their staff and not using it. You could easily omit it and just keep the other two.

But Augural Flare absolutely wrecks drakes, and pretty much everything else.

I'm enjoying Trickster more than I thought I would, but I'm only trying it AFTER getting the Sphinx trickster weapon that turns every enemy into a slot machine. If I didn't have the 'get money' minigame to play in between deploying my smoke dude I'd find it a lot more tedious. I also haven't hosed around with the spirit projection skill much yet, but now i see how that fake floor skilll could actually be useful, if still highly situational.

Augural Flare is still the GOAT, allows me to contribute to big damage even with my piddly little censer swings.

If the game will not give you a bloody knuckle ring, become the bloody knuckle ring.

Early on in NG+ I tried a punch/shield run, with middling success. It sucked. However, at a certain point, it DOES become viable, but that point is around lvl 80. Since enemies in the game don't really scale, at that point you'll be powerful enough that punching your way through the game actually becomes feasible.

So, I climbed into the rift and looked up the buffest fighter Pawns with shield skills, unequipped their main weapon, and roll through the game with x3 punchfighters and a mage. You WILL need a mage, as battles against drakes turn into wars of attrition, but they ARE doable.

As for my setup, I've got all endgame dragon equipment. My Arisen is Warfarer with Shield Bash, Counter Slash (this is optional, Flawless Guard is an acceptable substitute) and Aromatic Resurgence for my crew. Double Rings of Vehemence. I forget which augments, but I equipped the buff extension, knockdown enhance, knockdown resist, +strength, and I forget the others. Some stamina augments might help. I'm rather low on Dragon Crystals but I'm going to buff the shield bash skill to 1/2 the stamina cost, as that is definitely my bread and butter.

I've learned that you shouldn't focus on damage, but knockdown so you can land criticals/finishers, and the x2 ring of vehemence really helps with that. Almost all standard enemies will become exposed after 2-3 standard punches, and anything tougher than that gets shield bashed/stomped. Initially I tried playing with a Ring of Brawn but again, you aren't really trying to outright DAMAGE enemies, you want to overwhelm them with knockdown and then just stomp them into the dirt with your crew.

I did the Phantom Oxcart quest again on NG+ after loving it up on my first playthrough, and my Pawn actually had specific dialogue on how it's nice that we got it right THIS time. I'm always impressed when I come across a new little touch that the devs took into consideration.

If you're modding to get a smoother cart ride anyway, might want to just mod out griffins, ogres and cyclops entirely.

Also maybe have the car stop during the night, not much to look at when it's gets dark.

Man, I can't stop playing. I've done just about everything there is to do, minus a handful of quests, but it's just so fun to load up the game, pick a direction, and have have a ramble with the lads and see where the day takes us. Still eternally thirsty for WLC though.

I've squeezed about all the enjoyment I could from the Captain America shield/punch style, so now I'm rolling with a crew of all archers, mostly so I can take revenge on the harpies that took so long to get into fist range.

Warfarer with Tempest Shot, Augural Flare and Recovery Arrow is a nicely balanced setup, and you don't even need a mage anymore. I'm going to switch out Flare for Aromatic resurgence and see if it turns my archer pawns into machineguns.

That's so loving cool but I'll be damned if I'm going to download and install 3 separate things in order to get any of that working in the first place :/

But if someone comes along and makes a version of Mart's Monster Mod that adds a size randomizer and some textures to the existing mobs...I might consider learning how the gently caress to get all of this to work.
