Can we stop the "well if you don't like it, you can leave it" sentiment please? This is a discussion forum where we talk about video games. I'm voicing some concern over issues I could potentially see appearing down the road given the limited info we have. Maybe I'm completely wrong about all of it, maybe I'm not.

I'm going to buy the game because it looks awesome, and it probably will be awesome overall, but that doesn't mean every single thing in the game is going to be 100% perfect, masterful design. In fact part of the reason the first game was charming was because it was so janky and weird about so many things. But I think there's a fine line between good janky and bad janky, and I just like talking about it, even if some of that talk isn't lavish praise, and seeing what other people think. And that's ok.

Youre just whinging to whinge. stfu

I got a ridiculously strong twin spear by popping a blister on a surprise dragon fight and I've just been tearing apart bosses. The griffin showed up, got stunned, and was down to a single health bar before it took off. Then I smacked its head midflight until it fell and died while I shouted "gently caress you" at it

Captain Brant warned that continuing his quest chain will "change things". Should I make sure to finish all the other quests I have going on before doing the coronation or...?

Only thing thats happened to me so far is it cut off of a few quests that are meant to get you to that point.

Mystic Spearhand started out rough because I didnt understand how its defenses worked, but now Im tanking entire groups with an invicible shield and locking down big monsters into perpetuity. This class is crazy good

Trash mobs are actually like minions in league of legends, where you use abilities to zip to them to move faster. This message brought to you by mystic spearhand gang

The problem with trash mobs every few steps is that they both don't really interact with different species and it really puts on focus how few mob enemy types there are.

Also I got a real problem with invisible walls in this game. Just about every cool looking mountain is blocked by some stupid wall. Let me fall out of bounds Capcom, let me float over the giant imposing gate

This game just immediately runs out of gas near the end lmao. Cool set piece fights but the entire experience feels like Im setting up for an act 2 that doesnt exist. This doesnt feel like an all-out sequel

With the upcoming DLC being an extension of the story that takes place after the main story that was developed alongside the base game it feels like the DLC will be Act 2

Sure does feel like that. I hope they actually do change the base game though because the exploration was mid as gently caress once the novelty wore off. The only truly interesting thing outside of Vernworth was the sphinx which was marketed to hell and back, every other area just felt like they rehashed the same formula with different window dressing. The final part of the game just really drove that feeling in when I realized that even the lovely caves were missing from the new areas.

The game feels finished, it just feels like they didnt have any ideas beyond "spooky forest," "canyon corridors," "tiny cave with enemies," and "setpiece main quest area." There are novelties abound but I cant think of a single area that broke that mold other than where the sphinx is chilling.

The more I sit on it, the more I think Oblivion had better exploration than this game. Now that Ive gone through once, I cant think of a reason that I would go anywhere outside of a town that doesnt have a quest already associated with it, other than the overmarketed sphinx. I guess theres also Medusa somewhere but I really dont give enough of a poo poo to hunt it down at this point.

First big disappointment with the game for me: I found the southern path to the Volcano Island, and a lady outside the cave told me to stay away because it was a deadly labyrinth filled with monsters. I went in and it's a straight line. Yeah, there's monsters out the rear end, but you just follow the one path to the other side. You told me there'd be a labyrinth, random lady! There wasn't even a minotaur in there!

Nonsense, there are several short side paths that reward you with waking potions and roborants. Maybe even a ferrystone!

Now that the honeymoon period is past, this game is kind of mid. Itll probably be transformed by DLC. I wish it had actual themed dungeons rather than multiple variations of cave with trash mobs, but Ill settle for the inevitable DLC enemy variety.
