I heard that one of the janitors on the boat smoked a joint a couple years ago so it was probably him that caused it.

I just don’t know why we let boats near bridges jn the first place. Why didn’t the boat just go around it?

the guy who built the bridge must feel pretty embarrassed that a boat could destroy it with such ease. i bet he texts his other bridges every day to make sure they're ok

back in the day you could gently caress a bridge for 99 cents. now you're lucky if you find one under $50, and when you do the goddamn thing collapses. no, no. i'm an isthmus man now.

It's inflation. Around here you are lucky to get a handy from a two lane country bridge for $50. It's a least 4 figures to go down on a fancy city bridge with huge spans.

I'm actually really glad they were able to get all the bodies, so the families can put them to rest. You don't know it until you lose someone important, that knowing where their body is/how it's being treated in death becomes a huge comfort to you.

I dunno how big a safety perimeter gets done for building implosions, but the Dali is almost a 1000 ft long, so telling the crew "Stay at the stern and inside" should be sufficient, right?

Sure. Demolition explosives are very small and controlled, and exploding a steel frame means there won't be a lot of small debris. You won't have random bricks or chunks of concrete flying out like in a building. I have a scrap of memory from something on tv, mythbusters or something, that minimum safe distance for buildings was twice (?) the height of the building. The bridge wasn't 500' tall even when it was standing.
