Post+AV Combo. What show is that, anyways? Wonder if it will actually say some more about wealth inequality or if it will resolve it with a nebulous "this is a question our future generations must solve"

GGLR isn't wasting any time before putting in another bunch of hooks. I'm tempted to jump into the manga but I'm not a fan of starting ones with unknown end dates.

Arc Hammer posted:Post+AV Combo. It's from Tensei Kizoku, Kantei Skill de Nariagaru/Reincarnated Aristocrat It's a long term goal for Ars, but the anime isn't going to get to a point where he can actually implement those ideas outside of his County which is not much more than a few thousand people at most iirc. The scanalations only just now reached a point where his title has increased and thus the scope of his power is broader, but obviously he's still operating in the Feudal framework. No idea where the LN is at though.

Tonari no Youkai-san ep2: still chill

Just watched episode 2 of Mission: Yozakura Family. I am enjoying it so far, though it feels kind of dated. I saw a review compare it to Hitman Reborn replacing the Mafia thing with a family of spies. Starts pretty slow, episode one pretty much just sets up the concept, with episode 2 feeling more representative of what to expect from the spy hyjinks. Train to the End of the World continues to be the best of the season for me, episode 2 was great, I am fully on board. Fun characters, an air of mystery that gives me Studio Ghibli vibes, and a good sense of humor. Tonari no Yōkai-san has been fine. To be honest, I find it a little boring. Maybe it will be more interesting as we unravel the main mystery, but a lot of it just felt like the yokai aspect didn't really matter that much, since it was just mild relationship drama that was quickly resolved. I need to start Laid-Back Camp, I love Do-It-Yourself, and I have seen people favorably compare the 2, so it is on my list, to get into. I am debating if I am going to watch episode 2 of Astro Note, episode 1 didn't really grab me.

The structure of Tonari no Yokai just seems to be kinda weird. Like we get to have this overarching mystery of Mu's dad and the Shadows but the same episode doesn't want to give any build up or weight to interpersonal drama with Rain and Ryo or Buchio and Yuri. I'm sure those storylines will continue to get more material but their bumps this week did seem very flatly portrayed and solved compared to the other stuff.

GOAT'd character this season yeah she absolutely rules. the dissonance between the upbeat piano piece and the poo poo she endures at the start of her flashback is probably the most striking scene of the show so far for me. honestly her piano room kind of creeps me out in general. the way every shot is framed so she's enclosed by the freaky industrial walls and door, the giant piano dominating the center of the room. funny gif for example (because i didn't feel like screenshotting the sad piano room moments): https://i.imgur.com/G6e6KDU.mp4

Apparently I've heard the guy as Zarbon in DBZ Kai and as Sir Hammerlock in Borderlands 2 but thats about all that jumps out at me from his filmography. Looks guess Brina was Mad Moxxi in Borderlands too and they both voiced Holo and Lawrence in the first adaptation of Spice and Wolf, which I haven't seen either.

i'm in the process of catching up on stuff i missed this weekend and i watched the first ep of whisper me a love song, which owns. there's a deftness to the writing that's laudable - they bounce back and forth between the two protagonists' viewpoints effectively, and they naturally handle the way all the different friend groups interact and tangle together. the end result is you walk in on two girls starting to crush on each other and their friends equal parts roasting and supporting their feelings in a way that feels real and is very fun. there was this throwaway moment, late in the ep, where the two leads meet up on the roof. they start out talking about a teacher who goes on rants for forever, and the older girl is just like "yeah, he goes off on tangents like that." it was such a little throwaway thing, but it stuck in my mind, because that's how conversations usually start in situations where you're hanging with someone new. i think i had the x teacher does weird poo poo convo a million times, and they captured that feeling here. a lot of romance shows can feel contrived in a way that this show's first ep really didn't, and so far (still need to watch a few other things) i think this is my surprise standout first ep of the season.

Level 2 Cheat unfortunately seems to adapt the WN which is much more of a mess than the manga. Risu calls the MC "darling" right away instead of going for this "master" poo poo first. There's also a part where they buy cheap skill rings for each other and pretend they're wedding bands which the show skips over and I am incredibly mad about it
