That first Kong movie was legit good. Had humor, attempted back stories, it was an admirable take on an old story. Skull Island.

My son really likes Godzilla but as a concept cuz all the movies are like 99% people in rooms talking about how important Godzilla is and then 1% monster stomping. It's so boring.

ok lets see godzilla (aka gojira) - has atomic breath - big stong tail - good single father to his son or whatever happened in that one movie - pissed off at humans and their nuclear nonsense or whatever - destroys tons of buildings, allowing humans to rebuild and improve their infrastructure - lives on a sweet island king kong - - monkey but large - incel vibes (kidnapping women? creep) - climbs a building and goes "argh" (lame) - not actually a king - shares island with stupid dinosaurs or whatever winner : godzilla obviously.

I watched that last hollow-earth Kong and Godzilla movie and it was mind boggling how low stakes and boring it was. How do you even make a giant moster movie that goddamn boring? I thought I'd been in the theater for 4 hours by the time they got to the anticlimatic final battle that Godzilla had spent the whole movie preparing for and had no chance of losing, against enemies we've never heard of that look like inferior ripoffs the the protagonists. They said the moster was capable of causing ice ages in an offhand comment, maybe have the movie actually start with a new ice age and Godzilla fighting in a frozen city or some poo poo to actually make it seem like a threat? That would also give them a reason to go to hollow earth level 2 to track down the source, instead of Kong randomly bashing a hole in the ground while beating up dogs. Probably the worst movie I've seen in theater, seemed like it was written by AI for how haphazardly scenes flowed together.

I loved Godzilla as a child and was so hyped when my mom brought home Godzilla vs King Kong on VHS. It was so bad and dull and stupid, but I loved Godzilla so I forced my way through it -- surely the pay-off was gonna be worth cause Godzilla was gonna whoop the poo poo out of that stupid monkey. Then Kong won and I was devastated. I'm still not over it.
