Saul Bass designed opening title sequences to movies, notably Alien. He directed only one feature length film, Phase IV, which ruled (although some ants were killed during the making of, quite notably a Honeypot Ant that died a particularly gruesome onscreen death). This movie was a big influence on Panos Cosmatos. Check this 30 minute short from 1984, Quest. (You might recognize Noah Hathaway.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wypg397JqKk I don't much like the dialog, there is too much, but the visuals is what Saul Bass is known for. Finally, Phase IV had a different ending that Paramount cut, and it has only recently been made available. It is in my opinion the correct ending for the film, even though there is some ambiguity as to what is going on (age restricted for boobies): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rMqT4GD944 Vinegar Syndrome recently released a 3-disc set of Phase IV in 4K, and it includes (on one of the Blu-Ray discs) the unreleased "preview" version that has the above ending: https://vinegarsyndrome.com/products/phase-iv https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IT__jmBwG_k It may also be of note that this movie was featured on the early first UHF season of MST3K (horrible video quality alert): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNRaLmexjvw (Send them... the ant movie!)
