I went cycling yesterday and a group of 4 or 5 people were chatting on a narrow bike path and I rode past someone talking like a foot away at face to face level. Oh well. It's cool. No problem at all.

Hello goons, I’m having a hard time keeping up any semblance of a healthy routine such as not drinking 6 beers a night which is also not great for my mental health. Getting stir crazy as I’m working from home and my roommate is unemployed and I’m sure he is as tired of seeing me all the time as I am. any tips on structure and not having a Lighthouse situation (without the gay stuff) would be appreciated.

I still have the appointment reminders for Spring Training baseball games. It always makes me a little sad when I can't watch them, but I can't bring my self to delete the games from my calendar.

specific IT depts can disable that option, like mine trick is to have set it up for weeks now that skype 'has issues from home' and you can't connect. just make sure you answer emails within 5 mins (easy) and you're good to play DOOM all you want.

Grocery shopping will still happen of course but for NYC I think they're hoping people will at least use the MTA less or do transportation via car/taxi or whatever. Many essential jobs require that poo poo so this was as much as we could do besides military action, though I think that would mostly entail army engineers creating temp hospitals/etc

Police should not have the power to force people to stay in their homes, so I'm glad there's no enforcement policy (in regions that I know of). Some people will not self-isolate. That's just reality. No one, especially here, is going to change that with their logic and reason. The people who do self-isolate are measurably helping themselves and others, and that will have to suffice.

I work in infrastructure for a uni in the uk & we've got no proper remote access solution so we've been setting up machines for RDP all week, it's a security nightmare.. If anyone wants to hack us they've got many entry points they can attack. It's orders from higher up who put business continuity before security... to make sure my arse is covered when it all goes bang, i've made sure I've kept all the emails. I'm also the divisional health&safety rep for our union which lets me ask some really awkward questions because if they gently caress me around I can legally order a full H&S inspection
