Does anybody have an online place they buy curtains? Amazon and Wayfair are full of the usual rubbish, and blinds.com is limited. I am more than capable of doing my own measurements, but I don't have the oomph to sew. At the moment, I'm looking for straightforward sheer curtains about 45"in length (second-story windows) and blackout curtains ditto ditto.

I am loving the lilac tile fireplace surround. The green is pretty sharp, too. So burnt out on grey and white renos (and lazy painting) over and over again.

Those kitchen cabinets look original to the house. I'd bet the countertops are too-- since the stove looks original. It reminds me a lot of my uncle's 1960s Houston house as far as the cabinets go. Although, I think they got granite countertops when they partially remodeled several years ago.

I redid my living room layout. Yes it looks kind of hilarious because I haven't adjusted the art yet (or redid the cable management) but I want my interior designer to look at it first. Plan is 1) get white sit/stand desk 2) do cord management magic where I attach the power strip under the desk, then only have that plugged into the wall 3) use pouf or something else to help block the view of remaining cord. cord slack when desk is in the lower position will be behind the plant 4) bertoia shell chairs with blue shell, white base for the little table 5) eames LAR chair, black base, peacock blue shell will go... somewhere, not sure yet, perhaps angled by the closer speaker

The step-down from the kitchen in that Royal Barry Wills house is a sprained ankle waiting to happen. Both hands full of the casserole, stepping forward blind, whammo.

stepdowns in general are just bad design. It's not like stairs where there are multiple steps, which makes it very noticeable as you approach, and railings and such to yell out "you are coming to a staircase!"
