Escape From Noise posted:There's a plan to make an imperial stout in September or so it's done around December/January. In the meeting we had, the boss wanted to know what we could add. Coffee and cacao were too "obvious" so I find myself trying to head poo poo off at the pass before I'm asked to make a peanut butter, marshmallow, vanilla, fruit, etc. imperial stout. Pitched smoked honey since the restaurant has a smoker. Why does poo poo have to be so loving extra every time? Have your bosses ever considered the best selling beers (in US at least) don't tend to be the crazy ones. A simple pilsner sells all day long, as does a simple IPA. Although, smores imperial stouts are good.

Youtube is no longer blocked.

I've seen SA blocked on airport wifi for "drugs" "weapons" "terrorism" (lol) "obscene content" and I'm sure others but that's what I've got off the top of my head. Meanwhile i would be able to go to dedicated gun forums and reddit seemed to be wide open. I suspect that SA got on some block list back in the early 00s and that everyone just recycles the same list of naughty websites. If it's even semi-obscure (like a forum for people collecting WW2 rifles) or mainstream as gently caress (reddit) you'll see the filters hit it less often.

A hundred years ago I was contracted onto a minesite and had a lot of downtime waiting for poo poo to happen. The clients IT guy pulled me up for browsing cracked.com. Super concerned I was trying to hack the company's mainframe or something "Why are you looking up hacking sites?". I explained it was a news aggregator sort of site and had nothing to do with hacking. Still dubious. It's a dumb website with BuzzFeed-type lists of pop culture bullshit. Reinforced my long-standing belief that anyone who works onsite for a mining company is dumber than dry mud and has given up their ability for critical thought in exchange for an idiot deskjob filling out paperwork. This is how it usually goes: Work for consultancy -> Learn how to think and be competent and do a wide range of interesting poo poo -> get sick of the hours and crap pay -> go work for the client for a 50% pay bump -> never think again. If thinking is required hire a consultant

My company unblocked Reddit like 5 years ago because someone posted a nice story about us and they wanted everyone to read it. As far as I know it's still unblocked. Also they unblocked YouTube so management can play stupid motivational videos in all hands meetings.

What's the go-to beer for your average Japanese person eating in a restaurant? Why not just make one of those as your "house special" and then have some more unique stuff on tap for the more adventurous people? I'm just a humble beer drinker but that seems to be what every microbrewery in the US does. Each one will have their little thing or specialty, but they've all got some variation of a pilsner and some take on an IPA for someone to downshift to who isn't all about their main theme. edit: to be clear, I'm curious what your boss' stated reason for not doing this is. This is kind of obvious and I assume that the galaxy brained idea of "why not make beer that is locally popular" already occurred to you

I started checking logs on the firewall & any filtering apps, sure enough this loving clown was spending at least half his day on different sports websites, golf sites & YouTube watching all this random crap. The main reason was because we started getting bitched at by him regarding projects that were delayed & he kept going to our bosses poo poo-talking us & acting like we weren't trying to help. So I blocked all his precious sports sites & watched him melt down. First I'd only do it if we were waiting on something from him & he hadn't replied in several days. Then I started doing it EVERY time we needed info & had a deadline, playing dumb & acting like I didn't know what changed, before a segue into asking for the poo poo I needed. Once I got everything, I'd wait anywhere from a few hours to a couple days to reinstate his precious sites just to gently caress with him. Fortunately he never caught on, I know my teammates knew & my boss probably did too, but by that point I was so checked out I didn't care & was tired of being stonewalled by some rear end in a top hat with Chief in his job title.

We're smaller, so stuff like pale ale makes the most sense, and that's sold well in the past. I guess I also just get frustrated when I suggest doing something and they ask about the style them start pitching random poo poo to throw in it. I've been pushing some more conventional stuff but they sorta want to shoehorn in random adjuncts sometimes. It's just that classic situation of owners/managers who don't understand beer and see the crazy poo poo that sells, but not realizing what that takes and that it's not the standard.

On the brew day me and the other brewer came in assuming the other knew what that meant. We had to go over group Line messages from one of the seven (?) company group chats and all we could find was it was supposed to be made with the weissen base. So we made weissen and chucked in a loaf of white bread from the Lawson across the street. That place was such a shitshow and the owner actively hosed up our processes so much that neither of us gave a poo poo. I'm sure it tasted like poo poo, but it wasn't like the regular beers we made were likely to be noticably better.

Yeah, if we could do barrel aging that'd be rad. I'm with you. I don't even like milk stouts. I'm worried if I don't come up with something somewhat creative though they'll go to Google and see the kind of stuff Omnipollo, Brewski, Weldworks, etc. put out and I'll soon be making a suntan lotion and peanut butter sandwich stout.

Today is my last day of work at this company and the HR lady asked me how I'd like to do my exit interview, in person or over the phone. I opted to do it over the phone because it sounded easier, and I'm glad I did because the HR lady informed me that she has Covid. Oh, and she's at the office and has been walking around the building without a mask.
