haha yeah it'll be great trying to fix and maintain a house for a century that was built the same way as a car, e.g. out of loads of proprietary, nonstandard parts that become increasingly unavailable after just 20 or 30 years

this principle applies

dude is an engineer and has severe engineer brain, he's not trying to create a new universal standard but he's absolutely adding a whole new set of nonstandard house construction parts and techniques to the world of housebuilding just making everything that much worse later

This is why wood is a good material to build houses out of, the raw material grows on trees.

The problem is land supply, not house supply.

We don't need a factory to produce more houses. We need a factory that produces more purchasable land to put a house upon.

Just plopping out one new acre of land per hour.

I would argue urban sprawl is an issue and that the whole management of shared building infrastructure is the biggest hurdle to overcome it.

Around these parts it's definitely more housing that we need, not land. We've got plenty of that.

That's a problem in itself as urban sprawl is a massive issue.

That'd be amazing, a smaller but more educated population over time.

Depressed

wires to a thing hanging out a thing

wires i guess

having to fin a way for those wires past all the other older forgotten about wires

what the wires are for

what the gently caress are the wires for?

Still pulling off pipes and remotely getting them hett up

confirming their ok

but ultimately getting stuck in and ignoring context

at least I have a comfort blanket

mum and dad are off. abandoning their late twenties probably son again

had to reverse it out to avoid getting stuck

anyway all this lot looks done

Getting there with this stuff. Its a very slow and arduous process. Lol. I've hosed up a couple of bits and gone like how am I gonna get that back in place and soldered up? Just keep in mind how ever bad you gently caress up, you can go backwards and fix it. It justs costs money, time and possibly like i dunno embarrassment if your dad is still there and telling you he said so.

getting there

oh dear....

yeah this is wrong

look at that skinny little neck on it. Its another bit I got second hand from bristol. Yeah that probably isnt a 28mm part. lol gotta replace it. Only 70quid and another days wait.

Individually controllable lights I think.

Seems like it would have been easier to use POE lighting.

I agree there.

I needed 3 runs of ethernet so I just bought pre-made ones of more than enough length and threw the excess behind a storage rack.

The calculus on this might change if you're using 2 km of ethernet cable though.

I'm pretty sure this build has more wire in one conduit than I have in my entire house.

Sirotan

You just need to get a sharp enough punch down tool. It's easy as poo poo if your tool is sharp, miserable if it's not. Idk if you can get Klein tools over there but that's what I'd recommend, I just bought one of their replacement blades bc the $9.99 punch down tool I got as a set wouldn't cut for crap. Blade alone cost more than that but worth it.

Terminating wires always sucks though, just buy premade for anything you're plugging into a jack.

Sagacity

Hopefully my epitaph will be funnier than my custom title.
I once had to terminate cables manually since the conduit wasn't large enough to accommodate a jack (the cable itself barely fit). I had a poo poo tool and it literally took me half a day just to add jacks on both sides of one cable. Horrendous.

Also I'm incompetent.

That looks like it would take me longer, waste more cable, and be more expensive considering the website doesn't even give a price.

I've terminated enough ethernet cables at this point that it doesn't really take me much time at all to go fiddling with something like this.

But also, aren't you only supposed to DIY terminate ethernet in keystones or FTPs? The only reason I've seen for terminating in RJ45 is some kind of POE situation where the bigass FTP literally doesn't fit or I guess you really quickly need a temporary patch cable.

Other than that you should be buying manufactured patch cables.
