Translation note: In Japan corn dogs are literally called "American Dogs" so the idea of an French American dog is extra funny

Somehow, Franco-American dogs are also Italian.

Denji is truly the apotheosis of the traditional shonen hero: fighting for justice by being too rock stupid to stay down.

Denji ia very explicitly fighting *against* Justice
Well, I meant it more in the sense that 70's robot anime theme songs mean it; you get the idea.

Well, Jesus was having a nice night telling his disciples about the Holy Spirit before Judas showed up.

Comic is filled to bursting with "bad" people that are great characters
A very important distinction. Some of the best characters in all of literature are complete degenerates.

Alexander Solzhenitsyn said, "The line separating good and evil passes not through states, nor between classes, nor between political parties either -- but right through every human heart -- and through all human hearts," but he neglected to add that this line was cut...

...with a chainsaw.

Japanese fiction, rhetoric, page design, poetry, and cinema often follow a structure called kishoutenketsu, in which you have an introduction (Ki), development from that introduction (Shou), a twist, a swerve, or a turn, where something new is presented that recontextualizes everything before it, probably makes you go "what in the heck???" (Ten), then a resolution that integrates the twist into the rest of the narrative (Ketsu).

It's rare to read a series where every page is a Ten.

Like I said earlier in the thread: it's all about the ki-shou-ten-ketsu. Fujimoto just has a gift for Ten.

Ha, I like this idea. Like you have all these scientists and engineers going into work every day, but nothing is ever invented again. Because it just can't.
This means Chainsaw, by extension, ate the concept of social media.

Would have been more appropriate if he'd used the Dessert Witch from Madoka Magica.

Ki: Denji needs to go to the bathroom.
Shō: Denji gets up to use the bathroom.
Ten: He's barefoot, and the floor is covered with Legos.
Ketsu: "Is this really the life I wanted, Pochita?"

Trying not to read the thread to avoid spoilers, but I’m in Tokyo right now and have seen a lot of figurines featuring the man character and seeing a man with a chainsaw for a head and arms looks pretty bad-rear end, so I’m sold. How far into the story is it so far? If I like manga like One Piece and Berserk would I like this one too?
Funny, that's sort of the same reason I started watching Osomatsu-san.

Anyway, Chainsaw Man has completed one big story arc, and just hit a turning point in the second. I'd say if anything Chainsaw Man is more like Jojo's Bizarre Adventure--both share a willingness to go absolutely nuts at the drop of a hat and take the most outlandish option to move the story forward.
