Finished honour mode! Didn't do Cazador, House of Hope or Grief and blew Gale up so the ending felt a bit lovely, but I have the dice. It's amazing how much of a wrench it is letting down these collections of pixels and voices even when you've saved them properly the first two times round.

I'm tempted to only play honour going forward, it really adds something to the game having to accept your fuckups. I saw so much content that I never would have in tactician. The only issue is when you get the odd bug or the game mechanics don't work how you expect, but they're sufficiently rare that you can power through

I haven't finished honor mode yet, but next time I play it's going to be on tactician with no savescumming. That's really the only part of honor mode I like. The game's a lot more immersive when I'm not relying on the F8 key to get out of every small jam.

I haven't used Gale, Halsin, or Wyll in three plays, so that's my team next time.

Yeah same. I’m still chasing the gold dice so for now I’m sticking with what I know. But if I ever finish I would like to do a run with the companions and classes I never use. Have hardly touched Druid and ranger at all. Not used paladin too much either. Probably with the mod that turns tactician into honor mode but without the single save.

God damn it, you've got to be kind.
I had what felt like a classic D&D encounter. Secret cellar that had a secret passage to what seemed like a benign cavern. Decided to open an old coffin and there was a BOOM and out popped a skeleton, taking my party by surprise. And this was not a shambling sort of skeleton, but a spry rear end in a top hat of a skeleton who began dashing around the room and bashing open other coffins and in short order my party was outnumbered by these higher level bony shitheads. Everything went downhill from there and I had to reload, but still... if I'd just left that coffin alone I expect things would've gone differently, unless after my reload I'm about to do something else that wakes them all up again.

Is he wearing the arcane acuity hat? With how many attacks bards get that can really pump up your spell save DC to an insane degree.

It was probably something like this. He's a College of Swords Bard, and I remember hoarding some of the various gear that would let spells and physical attacks pump each other up (a lot of it from the Creche), and gave it to him once I made him a Bard.

For me it's been the opposite, the appeal in Honour Mode has been the souped up fights with cool new mechanics and the tweaks that fix damage riders. I'm not personally much enamoured with the "no reloads" thing, it feel like it's forced some incredibly cautious play from me that's been occasionally kind of tedious. I'll get my golden dice and in future see if I can get a mod to give me the honour mode difficulty changes without the single save file.

Take a peek at what is directly above some of those coffins if the skeletons were giving you trouble

That's a good point, I've taken so long because I've been cautious about bugs causing instadeath. I had Lae'zel fall through a bridge once and needed Withers to get her back. Another time I glitched and multiple enemies were untargetable; I had to kill the process in task manager. Once I had to end the task to fix a broken mouse cursor and the game forced a save on me. A video game intercepting an "end task" from Windows to force its anti-savescumming tech is crazy to me.

Moving platforms are terrifying on honor mode. I’ve taken to doing “fox, chicken and wolf need to cross the river” puzzle back and forth poo poo to avoid ever having my whole party on at once in case they decide to randomly glitch off the edge. This has already saved my rear end several times lol.

Thankfully a lot of them have a waypoint on the far side so you only really need to send one dude across.

There's also the times your party decides running through fire is the quickest way to get somewhere. Or an enemy's idle animation makes it so your cursor misses clicking on them, leading your squishy nerd character to run towards a pack of enemies at full sprint instead of casting Hold Person. Honestly if honor mode was a hard limit of maybe three reloads it'd be just as balanced.

This was my biggest frustration with the Grym fight, still learning a lot of the mechanics and hoooo boy let's run into the fire EVERY SINGLE TIME ASTARION

You can also have Withers spec you into it and then spec back out after. Summon Shovel persists in your hot bar even if you spec back out of a caster class.

Yeah. I feel like this must have gotten patched at some point? There’s some Reddit posts of like 20 steps on how to get the summon whereas now my bard can just respec to wizard and get it no problem.

...Okay, I'm assuming something weird is happening with my mods. But for some reason, one of the NPCs in Last Light Inn is being dragged into every combat I get into.

I'm in Moonrise Towers. What the hell, Cerys, chill out.
