Reichstag posted:Wow yes I'm going to take this TOP 40 LIST on buzzfeed dot com very seriously. Wake up gramps, BuZZfEeD DOTCOM is the new NatGeo. I do, however, trust buzz feed dot com for all my "impossibly worthless stock photo" top-40 lists though. Although I suppose I could just go to the front page of shutterstock if I wanted to see that. Additionally, I am appalled that there is no 'page 228 snypa' emote. MODS?!!

I woulDn't say top 40 ever but I thought some shots were good. Am I a bad person for this? Or is it because I don't see pictures in the Fibonacci Sequence yet? that one HDR photo made me cringe. Also what is a reputable site for looking at pictures worth a drat that I can gain something from?

That top 40 list was horrible. A few of those were even found to be taken at different times/in different contexts. But then they have a few that generally would make the list. Weird whoever compiled that. I usually just head to The Big Picture. Is there somewhere that details the process of them finding/selecting those photos? A few usually end up on best press photos of the year.

It's one of the less-good 70-210 variants. http://www.dyxum.com/lenses/Minolta-AF-70-210-F4.5-5.6-II_lens51.html $130 is a terrible price for it, they go for routinely less on eBay.

Apple working on a camera according to iLounge.. Such legacy concepts as ISO, aperture and shutter speed. I'm not sure how much simpler you can make picture taking nowadays. Turn on, press button, take picture. Now, what to do with those images after is much more interesting. The only reason I use my iPhone's camera is because it's faster to share the images with others, but the image quality itself blows (not to mention it's slooooow).

Yes, someone releasing a point & shoot style thing into the consumer market will ruin photography as we know it. Also that image looks like some kind of photography version of a badly-done Facebook-style ~social issues~ image. EDIT: And I'm still trying to work out why the hell there's a Blackberry on there.

Reichstag posted:Why would apple ever release a standalone camera? They already make the most popular camera in the world. Because 68 billion somethingsomething recall the iSomething and Lytro and oh god none of it even makes sense. Also the iPhone 4 camera is the reason I don't carry a point & shoot around any more. Is it a good camera? No. But it's sure as hell good enough to take dumb snapshots of drunk people at a bar or something.

Now if DSLR makers could pull their heads outta their collective asses and improve their interface to phones and tablets instead of trying to own the publishing pipeline we'd be in business. evil_bunnY fucked around with this message at 22:00 on Jun 1, 2012 |

Really the killer app would be for canon or nikon to team up with Android or some mobile OS and bring apps to point and shoots. The fuji cameras already have film effect filters built in but I can see consumers flip their poo poo for "film" settings on their p&s's. Include a wifi/3G module to instantly publish on instagram/facebook and you're away. Of course it's a gamble because an iPhone already does that anyway.

I've been hiding this shameful secret for too long and I suppose I might as well come out and say it: I use Pinterest for sharing photos I like. Anyone else? I know it's all shoes and what not blah blah blah, but it doesn't have to be. I think it's a pretty good interface for photo sharing and an easy way to save things you like via the bookmarklet. If you're on there and use it for photos, post your board so I can follow it. If no one else is on there...well I dunno. Here's my photo board if you're interested.
