Found this on the CBR forums and thought it was amusing. In a German SS propaganda archive, there was an SS Newspaper article trashing a particular issue of Superman in which he easily dispatches a bunch of Nazis. Among the empty propaganda and obvious antisemitism was a statement that I found pretty funny:

An SS Newspaper posted:

A triumphant final frame shows Superman, the conquerer of death, dropping in at the headquarters of the chatterboxes at the League of Nations in Geneva. Although the rules of the establishment probably prohibit people in bathing suits from participating in their deliberations, Superman ignores them as well as the other laws of physics, logic, and life in general.

That's fairly amusing. There's a fairly large Klan presence in my state (Indiana) and many of them cling to Superman as a White Power symbol. I was lucky enough to inform a few of them that Superman was in fact created by two Jewish men. Their faces were priceless.

Scott Lobdell is the Liefeld of the 10's. He's just doing some of the dumbest stuff and no one's slapping him on the wrist and telling him he can't do that. To the contrary, they're just giving him more books to ruin.

Hmm, so I guess this is the part where DeFalco starts having Superboy get his rear end kicked by everyone he runs into, as Lobdell gushed about at one of the last con panels. That was one of the only old continuity trends that I was glad they dropped regarding this character (still hate that Supergirl dislocated his jaw).

But given the most recent DeFalco issue, I doubt I'll be reading this series for that much longer.

Some rumor mongering from you-know-who, but he's claiming that Andy Diggle might be taking over Action Comics from Morrison. I'm not at all familiar with his work, is this potentially a good thing or should I be prepping to drop AC from my pull list after January?

Well, prior to his run on Daredevil, I would have said he's a good writer, but after that, I'm not so sure.

The Losers is the only thing of his I've read, and it was pretty danged good (not sure how much of that was Jock's doing). I would say it probably wouldn't be terrible, but don't go in expecting the best Superman run ever.

Pitchfork was wrong. (f)lowers of Algerbong is crap.
Daredevil reeked of editorially driven comics, so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on that one. It's a pretty weird choice all things considered, but these days I'm far more willing to give a weird choice a chance than a safe predictable one.

I like Diggle, but his style is really better suited to street level stuff, he's an odd fit for superman. I'd love to see Jock doing Action, though, so if there's a possibility of that I'm game.

Yet another main continuity Superman title? :effort:

On the other hand, if they were to tie it in to the movie and set it in an entirely separate proto DC-movieverse continuity that could be interseting. (And not just because I'd enjoy watching Jim Lee try to draw actual people instead of his usual action figure style. I can't imagine there's going to be a lot of cheek concealing headgear or giant weird sideburns in the new Man of Steel movie.)

Good lord it was awful.

The art-style of course, shifts when Starfire shows up, which I guess shows that someone was aware of how awful the art was and didn't want their waifu drawn so badly. Speaking of badly, that bikini is the size of a roll of dental floss.

Holy poo poo that was bad. I guess this was the thing Liefeld was ranting about, saying there was going to be some huge crossover between Grifter, Hawkman, Lobdell's books, and Superman all revolving around the Daemonites that got scrapped at the last minute. Though I guess it wasn't soon enough for the annual, which had already been resolicited from a story written by Giffen.

I think the only remotely redeemable aspect of the entire book was this exchange:

Superman: "...and whoever your friend is."
Deathblow: "Deathblow."
Superman: "Seriously?"

Agreed wholeheartedly on both counts. As well, Oliver can really draw the hell out of expressions. The wink he gave the kid was incredibly realistic looking and really conveyed the charm and kindness of Superman, even without comparing him to Wonk-Eyes Morales.

Man, this issue was just perfect. It didn't hit the zany tying-everything-together notes of the other issues, but it really made up for it in heart.

Only 4 more issues to go, boys. Enjoy these moments while we can.
