I'm looking to fund and incubate a new startup. I have the idea, a half built product, and funding - but need a CEO-type person to lead the project.

The idea/product is in the email space. Familiarity with software development, search advertising, SEO, and PR is a plus.

However, what is most critical is passion, desire to learn, and an entrepreneurial spirit.

Here's the deal: you will get a modest salary, space in my office, and equity in the startup. I will provide the funding (initial product buildout, offshore engineering hires, and marketing) and day-to-day guidance. But you are expected to become the CEO.

Submit your resume here: http://relevant.submittable.com/submit

FYI: there is a $3 application fee.
I'm an investor in the company Submittable and I'm told charging a nominal fee will result in a higher % of serious applicants.

oreilly seems to release a lot of short js books on one topic and i wish they'd make that their style for other languages. high performance javascript (shaggar don't even) is great because i can read it in an afternoon, note whats worth using and get back to whatever i was doing

Cygwin is a god send when dealing with retarded server applications written as if it were a lunix. Who the gently caress writes a Windows-only server without Windows logging, event tracing, service control, management console access, performance monitoring integration, and registry configuration? This company was bought for drat $30+ million.

1. Handling exceptions when you don't know how is a dumb thing. Now you're taking the exceptional thing and shoving it back into regular data flow in a hidden way that makes it possible for the exception to escape the walled area it's in and jam itself into your data in unexpected ways.

Believing that you can fix the exceptional condition you don't know how to handle by just not crashing and having your program basically shrug, get confused, and do something else is stupid. It should stop what it's doing.

2. ORMs are okay but if you use them instead of a real model layer you're in for some trouble because that sucks.
