"Star Trek Into Darkness" feels like they looked at Live Free or Die Hard and A Good Day to Die Hard and did their best to mimic that style of title.

Like most of you, I'm not feeling the Trek into Darkness title either, but it isn't enough to sour me on the film. Even though I didn't really get into the reboot, I'm such a fan of Star Trek in general that I feel like I have to see this.

Every movie sequel title that is a phrase unto itself (Star Trek Into Darkness, A Good Day to Die Hard, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, For a Few Dollars More, Dawn of the Dead, 28 Weeks Later) is better than every movie sequel title with a colon in it. They're just better titles in every way. I would rather see Star Trek Into Darkness than Star Trek 2(9?): Into Darkness any day. It's just a better title! You can't speak a colon aloud!

I don't know why, but when I first heard the title, I couldn't help but think of the Mr. Show sketch where they take a class trip up Bob's mom's rear end in a top hat.

Well, the midnight IMAX is technically 12:01 AM on the 14th, so you're probably okay.

Cross-Section

Looks like a synopsis has been released, source is Slashfilm and a few other sites:

Paramount Press Release posted:

In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes Star Trek Into Darkness.

When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.

With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man (Benedict Cumberbatch) weapon of mass destruction.

As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

Man, Starfleet can't catch a break!
