You can still set people up on the nationwide plans. Some reps will tell you they can't, but they're just dumb. Well, I went in and was told the only thing they can do is $40 for 700 minutes and $40 for 300MB of data, with $15 for every 300MB over. I pretty regularly use ~350-400MB so... $80 with the threat of $95 still isn't really my idea of a good time. Ugh.

I am really considering just buying the Razr M and then flipping it when the Razr HD/Maxx comes out if I decide I need the bigger HD screen. The Razr M really made the thunderbolt feel like a dinosaur of a phone. Two of my friends just picked it up, and its fuckin awesome.

I was helping my parents switch from their current plan to a Share Everything plan, and when selecting the option to change the plan at the next billing day it tells me that the first month will be pre-billed on their next bill. Does that mean they will not receive another bill for a couple of months, or is it going to keep pre-billing? edit: Just figured it out...all cell phone bills are paid in advance. Did not know this until looking at my bill. I guess the next quest is, if I switch to my parents' plan, is there any way Verizon would reduce my ETF on my individual plan as I'm still staying with them just switching to a shared plan? Don Lapre posted:Yea I just did this too. Transferred my upgrade from an unlimited account to a dumb phone and preordered. The preorder confirmation lists my unlimited line though. I think it's just how their system works though on preorders. Any ideas? Which line did it show for you in the preorder email? The line the upgrade came from or the one it was transferred to? I was describing a hypothetical situation for myself. I haven't done any preorder, but there's a chance I may want to snag one more subsidized device instead of letting my subsidized upgrade just languish unused. I was hoping that an upgrade transfer could theoretically let my unlimited plan stay untouched.

Making any upgrades to your line will kill unlimited data, if you want to keep it buy used or unsubsidized. Anyone not using their upgrade and want to get me an iPhone and have it switched to my number? I am loving impatient to wait 5 months for my upgrade.

Most people report about ~$16/month after taxes and "fees." It's not worth the hassle; you're better off buying someone's new-in-box unwanted upgrade off of craigslist and not loving with your account.

Don Lapre posted:Maybe somewhere. When we added my mom out bill went from $136 to $147. You are both right; recently Verizon switched the way fees are listed for each line so each line gets a relatively even split of taxes and fees. In this way while the total amount of fees and taxes is a pretty small $1-3 depending on where you are, the line charge listed will be above $15.

Yep, my main line makes the $9.99 lines look like they are loaded with fees.

Hell, I don't know if it would have even made a difference if we went to an actual Verizon-owned storefront. I'm irritated and disappointed that we walked in intending to get three smart phones, and walked out with two, only one of which works. The third party makes kind of an easy target. I just don't know who to direct my irritation at. Most cell phone stores are franchises, Verizon and the like tend to own a few stores per city and spread them out evenly, and let 3rd parties do the rest. There is no right answer, it's a case by case, heck month by month basis on where is best to go service wise. Wireless has a huge turnover so most people working are there usually less than a year.

Did the unlimited LTE tethering feature (for grandfathered users) go away after the 6/28 changes? I have it on one of my lines, but I'm curious if I upgrade my wife to an iPhone 5 if she'd be able to still get it.

I've been messing with the account manager and have no luck adding a $9.99 line to my nationwide plan and still getting my unlimited data. I'm either a moron or it doesn't pick it up anymore. I'm not due for an upgrade until 12/2012 though.

Is there a good sub-$300 newer phone that can be purchased somewhere at retail? Or even potentially say on EBay in relatively good condition. I've got an old unlimited account that I'd like to keep grandfathered for a while and continue to use without the new cap. Problem is my Droid Pro is slowly becoming a complete piece of poo poo.

I pre-ordered a Verizon iPhone from Apple, and it wont get here until October 5th. Since I've been an iPhone user since the iPhone 3G I've never really tried an Android phone. Would it be possible to pick up an Android phone and start a contract with Verizon and if I like it just cancel the iPhone 5. Or if Android makes me want to punch babies I can return the phone and just keep the iPhone 5 that I'm set to get on October 5th. Basically what I'm asking is would the pre-order I have for the iPhone 5 cause any issues? Technically I haven't started any sort of contract yet but maybe the pre-order puts some kind of hold on me or something. I'll check with Verizon after work regardless, but if anyone knows that would be cool.

I'm not an existing Verizon customer. So I guess the question is would they let me start as a new customer without cancelling the iPhone order. The Verizon website says my number is still eligible for porting, so I don't think there's any sort of block at the moment. I finally had them send me a Droid 3 and never really looked back. Motorola usually makes rock-solid phones, but something went terribly wrong with the X2.

She got her X2 when Verizon was swapping out Fascinates (for an issue that was resolved a month later, ha!). She missed the Charge by 1 day and opted for the X2. She swapped it 3 times, and finally ended up with something else (I can't remember what).
