ugh apparently in sublime text on os x you can't do UI poo poo from any thread other than the main one, so if you want to start a long-running process and notify when it's finished, welp~

e: i guess you could use multiprocessing and IPC or something but ew. the point is this is lovely and now i don't want to use sublime

neways wht im trying to say is that in most gui api's aren't thread safe and protect against massive failures & deadlocks by not letting you update gui junk on background threads

the thing is it provides a method for you to run poo poo on the main thread via sublime.set_timeout(func, 0), so there's literally no reason for sublime.log to yell at you if you're running it on another thread as opposed to just running it on the main thread. so i guess you could do something like

    sublime.log(msg)
  except RuntimeError:
    sublime.set_timeout(lambda: sublime.log(msg), 0)

or even just use the set_timeout variation all the time if you didn't care about the overhead

also while i could understand that for stuff like messing with the contents of a file's view or whatever, even poo poo like getting settings is main thread only. that's stupid.
