All of a sudden, I found myself in love with the world, so there was only one thing I could do:
was ding a ding dang, my dang a long racecar.

It's a love affair. Mainly jebus, and my racecar.

On Friday and today, I drove a Porsche Cayman R, a Ferrari 458, a Ferrari 430 Scuderia, a McLaren MP4-12C and a Porsche 911 (997) Turbo S around a racetrack. Really hard. With an instructor beside me the whole time, pushing me to go faster. :getin:

I will post some pictures and videos later but for now, I have had two days of the AIest poo poo I can imagine. It was epic fun and those cars are everything I always wanted them to be (especially the Scuderia - it is the Ferrariest Ferrari. Undoubtedly). Except the 911 which was spooky fast but... soft.

Horrible to share without media but I thought if anyone would appreciate the way I feel right now it would be you guys.

Also, I did this with my father. Best family vacation ever. :unsmith:

El Paso, since they still have their special snowflake emissions testing out there.

Except that area nothing like El Paso. Or Bexar, for that matter.

In short, I have no loving clue. My last inspection was in Collin, which resulted in me getting a green sticker - but that was last year.

Valt got it. That's a Travis County inspection sticker, but I ran into the Superleggera in Lagrange, headed towards Bastrop. I'm sure the owner has a house out 2222, along with all the other rich folk.

It is a T-top car with extreme lightening. It's got a fiberglass roof panel. It also has a section of the weather-stripping cut out of the factory body and a separate piece on the window. We are still having trouble getting down to minimum weight, and might have to weigh in with a half tank of gas and half a passenger "seat" (required in the class rules) to get closer. As it sits the car weighs 3025lb with driver and fluids, and makes north of 1100 hp all motor.

Hah, no poo poo. I know the DS hoarder you speak of, and I always stare longingly at those DSs rotting away on the street. I caught this 2CV while at the Hot Lips Pizza on NE 33rd. Lady driving it was pretty nice, but I didn't bug her beyond complimenting it.

You know how in gran turismo photo mode when you're far away from something then zoom in so you only see a tail light or a logo and everything else is out of focus? Imagine if you were unable to zoom out far enough to get a photo of the whole car.

Edit: and if you want a better visualization, picture this:

Yeah, basically. To use that photo as an example, I was about 6 feet away from the car, using the widest end of the lens (80mm). On a crop sensor camera (an SLR with a sensor smaller than a piece of 35mm film - basically, it crops the image down, "zooming" in), it's ... well, wildly inappropriate :)

Note: I did not crop that image, that's ... the whole thing.

To get the whole Ducati and Gallardo in the other photo, I was about 24 feet away, again, using the widest end of the lens.

The concept of what is and isn't a lot of power has gone totally apeshit since my childhood in the 80s. :corsair:

I mean, a top of the line Corvette was a 230 HP car. That's from a 5.7L V8. A US Spec 911 Turbo or Ferrari 328 had well under 300. Now you have pretty basic cars pushing 300 HP.
