(Oh god, what if Caliborn starts loving around with Problem Sleuth, Jailbreak or Bard Quest first?)
That's pretty much how I see it going down, this is definitely the key to Caliborns rise to power. In fact, I'll bet it pretty much comes down to him writing his own counter-fanfiction to Calliopes self insert out of some form of petty spite. Which is pretty much the main motivation for Caliborn actually.

The game exploit used to kill LE is just beating the snot out of a churlish alien kid. This is a pretty good way of wrapping the plot without a big fight (making Hussie good on his promise of not having another 1000+ page DMK brawl.)

I think Caliborn isn't actually in the game, or even the 'story'. He's outside the narrative right now-- not just in the layer of the story where self-insertion operates, but (if we're going along with the conceit) on the same level as the actual authorial narration. Right now, he's outside the story entirely, to the point where he can dictate how it unfolds. This is about as meta as I think he can get, without actually being real (which is the conceit mentioned before).

The "Lord English is Caliborn's self-insert" thing has a lot of leg, all of a sudden.

Not only does the machine display the narration, but it also displays the command line itself- and who writes that? For a while, it was Doc Scratch, and WV took the reigns for a brief time, but who drove Homestuck's, or even MSPaintadventures' narrative before?

We did. And Caliborn is us.

Lord English is already here.

Homestuck is a true work of art surpassing all of Shakespeare's works.
So the messages seem to me to be Calliope making some kind of attack on Caliborn. I know it doesn't make sense but I expect weird time/puzzle poo poo can make any stupid theory potentially plausible. It could be like Dirk's entry where he had to die to succeed in not dying. Ope is saved and sets up this system with Dave or Dirk's time skills so she can be saved. I'm not sure to what end but I suspect the self loathing this will bring on will allow LE to kill himself (intentionality or accidentally) and have it count as Just since he'll believe he deserves it. It'd fit with the exploitative nature of killing him since you're exploiting his emotions and using time loops in part to do so.

That or computers are just dicks. These are clearly the only two options.

Oh man, I really enjoy this theory. Lord English is just Caliborn typing on the computer about how himself, with a SOLID GOLD GUN and HUGE PECS tears the poo poo out of everything his sister loved.

Lord English is already here because he never was here, he was just a projection from the narration tower.

What I find especially confusing is that the narrator guided Caliborn to the television tower. So this probably means one of two things:

One, the narrator is purposefully driving Caliborn down the road to madness and sociopathy.

or

Two, the narrator is a dumbass who didn't realize how Caliborn would respond to a machine that crams thoughts into his head.

Hah, this kind of fits in with how Hussie was wearing Calliope's cosplay getup earlier. Maybe he was Calliope's new self-insert, now that the situation has changed a bit for her. Okay, maybe not. Either way, I really enjoy the idea that the whole story was fanfiction of itself all along - that would go well with the whole self-creation thing it's always had going on.

(The input - if you pretend it's actual input, as it originally was, and as it seems to be meant to be here, rather than page titles - and response have always had sort of a player/GM dynamic. I point this out because someone mentioned the active/passive duality and it reminded me of how Karkat initially read the relationship between client and server.)

I suppose the thing to remember is that the command line isn't 100% reliable. Commands too outrageous (poop on your desk, resist urge to get revenge on Jack) get considered and ignored.

So even if Caliborn stays at this station for the rest of the story, he can't make everyone dance on his strings automatically.

(also, it occurs to me that, with the meme that Hussie enjoys killing off his characters, every instance of that might end up being blamed on Caliborn!)

I'm reminded of some of the pages starting here: http://www.mspaintadventures.com/scratch.php?s=6&p=005976
Before, we found out that WV, via his terminal, could issue commands to John. Some of the first we saw were "BOY." "YOU THERE. BOY." "BOY, QUIT ALL THIS SCURRYING AROUND."

LE does show up at the linked point in the story with the same kind of deal going on. Caliborn's terminal has more than just the command prompt, so with the inclusion of the narrative prompt, could this indicate that, perhaps... Caliborn is now the story's exile?

Okay, taunting a guy who just murdered the gently caress out of the first person he has presumably ever met in person because he looked weird seems like a bad idea, even if you are a tower made of television sets. I know it's frustrating for a GM when the players just slaughter all your NPCs -- poo poo like this is why BioShock put every speaking character behind an inexplicable giant pane of bulletproof glass -- but you're CLEARLY just making him angry now.

I do like how the mini-tower thing to the left of the terminal looks kind of like a Christmas tree (even if it's not even Thanksgiving yet). Festive!

Maybe under the conditions of the game since he killed both his host and server player before either could enter the medium, the game caused him to immediately exile himself via that whole black-hole kernelsprite bit.

My only other guess is Calliope's fanfiction is also the narration, so some portion of her (for instance Callie Ohpeee) or Caliborn could have actually just killed a doomed beta Calliope with time shenanigans.

Calliope is out there somewhere, and she is still waggling her finger at her pompous little brat of a brother.

I think you guys are missing a key element of Caliborn's personality in your analysis.

He's gonna access the Beforus session and make it fail by making everyone relationship crazy, isn't he? He's gonna make tons of grody porn for himself. Well, that, and it seems logical that Gamzee typed that last command out in a way that preempted Caliborn's actions, to show off the machine to him?

The Internet is kinda like that, too. If you talk about fictional characters enough, people start creating fanart of them. The "Homestuck Anime" thing would be a relevant example.

Good thing it doesn't work like this in the physical world, or you'd get Mecha-Hitler vs. Raptor Jesus fights interrupting Godzilla's weekly Tokyo rampage.

This is completely dumb, but perhaps the entire reason she shared a body with Caliborn is that she did the Go To Sleep Before A Beta Timeline Cuts Off thing and some roundabout circumstances led to her inhabiting the same dumb body?

Maybe Calliope will, by some convoluted circumstances, not properly EXIST until Caliborn messes stuff up. Does that even makes sense? Probably not, I'm a dummy.

Team-Forest-Tree-Dog:
Smashing your way into our hearts one skylight at a time

You know how Caliborn seems to be the only other being to share the same freaky realistic eyes as Lil Cal?

http://www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=007377

http://mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=002363

I thought that Caliborn was the only being to have the same eyes, but after checking I found that Calliope's eyes which are pixelated in most appearences are realistic in her very last one as she goes to sleep.

http://www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=007124

Realistic eyes aren't meaningless because Caliborn picked out the fact that Dirk's Lil Cal wasn't a live JuJu because it's eyes were dead and pixellated in comparison to the real Lil Cal, although unbenownst to him this Lil Cal's eyes turned phorealistic just as it was dropped into the sea:

http://mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=007097

At which point it sunk beneath the waves rather than being engulfed by fire.

All of this combined with the fact that Caliborn refers to Calliope as Cal:

http://mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=007080

Doesn't want Dirk to say Lil Cal's name:

http://mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=006974

As well as his insistence that there can only be one (Which is a mechanic that appears to apply to JuJus and cherubs):

http://mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=007094

Makes me think that although Lil Cal is obviously connected with Lord English, he is connected to a far greater extent with Calliope and has some sort of connection with her that is stopping her from being truly dead (as Caliborn seemed to fear Lil Cal and want it destroyed).

I would also assume that Lil Cal is what is in Calliope's Juju chest that we got teased with, as both copies of Lil Cal that we know about could have found a way to get to the cherub meteor - either with Gamzee or because the meteor exists in the far future of B2 earth where Dirk's version was lost.
