Live (mash up) albums, to me, always seem like they'd be better in person.

A new challenger appears! Here's an 8 minute mashup of 2012's hits, ala United State of Pop/Top of the Pops. It's good. It's by a guy called Daniel Kim and is called Pop Danthology. edit: Turns out this guy's been doing poo poo since 2010? How'd I miss this? More Bahler is always enjoyed, as he's made some of my favorite overall mashup albums, but after some time to digest it I don't think this is quite up there with his best works, even if he did use some video game songs that have a special place in my heart. This Daniel Kim guy is new to me though, and he's doing a great job. The Earworm comparison is certainly apt since he's executing roughly the same idea, but he's making it work. Unlike Earworm he's not reproducing Earworm's signature trick of having the mashed lyrics to form complete half-coherent sentences, but I haven't seen anyone else even try that. But on the positive, I like that he mixes up his background track a bit more instead of picking one and expecting it to carry the entire 6-8 minute mashup, as Earworm does. I'd recommend, and thanks for sharing. Does anybody else do that "mixed lyrics make sense" thing and I just haven't noticed?

Girl Talk has done it a couple of times - off the top of my head I can remember a "we at the hotel-motel Holiday Inn" // "and I just can't get enough, I just can't get enough" mashup on All Day. But yeah it's not all that common

I'm reminded of this completely nuts thing that just stitches songs onto each other by a single shared word done by a couple of DJs (Pimp Daddy Supreme and Your Girlfriend): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aszEf_-bDsk Pop-Chop - "Comp Elation" And Pimp Daddy Supreme also did a track for an Eminem's "Without Me" remix contest that I adore where it and "I Will Survive" have a sort of back-and-forth dialogue a couple of times. Unfortunately I can't find it hosted online to link to it, but it's floating around in some torrents somewhere. It's usually titled something like "Eminem vs. Irene Cara - I Will Survive Without Eminem (Pimp Daddy Supreme)".

Yeah, I would have to agree that some of his more recent stuff hasn't been as good as his older albums. I think he hit a high point with Semblance of Sound and hasn't bounced back yet.

Regnevelc posted:Holiday Inn was Chingy. Chingy did have a song called Holidae Inn, but the phrase "hotel, motel, holiday inn" has been in countless hip hop tracks over the years, starting off with Rapper's Delight. It was definately Pitbull's dreadful Hotel Room Service in this case. poo poo Computer seems pretty tight, giving it a listen now.

Top of the Pops 2012 has been released by Mashup-Germany. It's certainly impressive but it isn't grabbing me as well as last year's just yet. Edit: yeh, this isn't doing it musically for me. That Pop Danthology knocked it out of the park in comparison this year. TotP 2011 was so much better in comparison too. Oh we'll we still have Earworm to go! Okay, so today I listened to Mile(y) High Club and Bambooyah! and really enjoyed what I heard. Is it safe to assume that other albums by Super Mash Bros and The White Panda are as good? Also, any recent recommendations for long continuous mixes like that are also appreciated.

Miley High Club is probably my favorite for SMB. I haven't heard the other White Panda albums except Bambooyah. I'm not sure if you noticed but Bambooyah is just a bunch of A vs B songs with a transition in between. It's not multi-track mashing like SMB. Anyway, other recommendations for multi-track, Girl Talk is definitely the most popular artist. After that, my favorite is Milkman and then there are other artists like E-603, Titus Jones, Ludachrist.

Hood Internet? I listened to poo poo Computer...and hated it. For whatever reason, it's just not for me. I like mashups with pop and hip-hop and rock songs but this was just like, a bunch of weird sounds. I'll have to give Milkman and the other ones listed above a shot

I think I've listened to everything ever mentioned in this thread and poo poo Computer is the only one that I remember actively disliking. This sort of taste is entirely subjective and I'm not saying it's bad or anything, but it's definitely quite different from most of the other music here. It's entirely possible for you to dislike it but go hog wild with the rest of these artists.

That's exactly how I felt about it, like it was more electronic dance music that happens to be mashed up a tiny bit and didn't really belong in this thread at all. Like you said though, to each his own and I could see people that enjoy EDM liking poo poo Computer
