What ever happened with those mods that ported Fallout 3 into NV? Is it "the way" to play Fallout 3 now? OneThousandMonkeys posted:Stop tricking me into thinking last-gen Gamebryo is pretty! From what I've seen in the TES and Fallout modding communities, when the newest game comes out, most people shift their focus onto it (all other things being equal.) There are other factors, too, however. For example, look at the Elder Scrolls series: Morrowind's community has, over 10 years, maintained steady numbers and produced some very impressive things, even by Gamebryo modding standards, such as MGE-XE, MGSO, and Tamriel Rebuilt. I feel like this is, in part, because Morrowind is a fundamentally different game than its sequels. It's pretty difficult to replicate the Morrowind experience in Oblivion or Skyrim. By comparison, Oblivion's community has largely dried up because it is, arguably, a worse version of Skyrim. There aren't very many compelling reasons to keep people involved in Oblivion, especially since the most high-profile mods already exist in Skyrim, or are actively being worked on. The strong similarities between FO3 and NV (that is, they're more similar to each other than Morrowind is to Oblivion or Skyrim) meant that nothing was really keeping the community from moving on to NV, which is basically FO3 with some baseline improvements, like weapon modding, crafting, and reloading. If NV was a hugely different game, you'd probably see a stronger presence in FO3, sort of like you do with Morrowind. As it is, there seems to be a greater interest in getting FO3 into New Vegas.

How do I get rid of this little misplaced arrow? I'm using Unified HUD, DarnUI, MCM, and a couple of other UI mods. This orphan arrow clearly belongs to whatever mod puts the sidebar on the right.

I don't have a guaranteed solution for you, but have you tried going into the mod config menu and changing these components' positions (even if just by a pixel or two)? Who knows; maybe it would somehow reset/bump things back into place. I use all the HUD mods you mention, but have also integrated One HUD into the mix. I'd recommend it; the install instructions for One HUD have a very clear order laid out to install all of these UI mods. You shouldn't lose any functionality from what you have now, and it might very well clean up your problem. So far I haven't encountered any issues with this set-up. fentan posted:You need to launch FNVEDIT through MO for it to work. It doesn't make fomods because it doesn't use them. Mods are extracted in separate folders, that's kind of the point. If a mod doesn't install correctly, it's because you've failed to manually extract it properly into its own folder. I know that. It still failed to work properly when launched through MO. FOMODs themselves are just archives themselves (dunno what format exactly but they work with winrar and the like). But they work well with modular mods. But MO failed to install/work with at all two mods, claiming the archives were damaged, despite them working fine with FOMM and winrar and 7zip. No idea why, but since it failed to handle WMX, I had to let it go. Beeb, it looks like a classic case of two many mods, IMO. does it get otherwise any more unstable than those missing textures and stuff? Menus/other stuff failing to work? I need to experiment more, but any ideas on this weird frame rate issue I'm having? Often, when I reload a save (from a game already in progress), my game reloads at a significantly lower, choppier frame rate than I had just moments before. Restarting the game fixes it, but simply reloading that or any other save from within the game does not. However, here's the head-scratchingly weird part... if I re-save the game and overwrite an existing save, there's no change/effect--the game's still running at an unusually poor frame rate--BUT if I save the game as a new save, the problem is instantly fixed. I don't mean reloading that new save; just the act of saving to a new slot makes the frame rate immediately go back to normal... smooth as butter. I think I have it narrowed down to either my ENB, or my weather mod (I'm just using Fellout for simplicity's sake)... When I make a new save and exit the menu/console, there are visually a few things related to weather and visual effects that reload/reset (I assume that's a normal vanilla game function). Before I dig too much deeper, though, I thought I'd check and see if anyone's had this issue or knows of a solution. All I can internet detective up is just people having generic issues with various ENB set-ups making GBS threads up their overall frame rate. edit: Ugh, just had it happen backward for the first time. Saved a smooth game, got choppy. Saved to a new slot, stayed choppy. Saved to an existing slot, switched to smooth again. Not a game-breaker or even that huge of a headache by any means, but drat it's weird. Trustworthy fucked around with this message at 21:13 on Dec 30, 2012 |
