Per your request, I have an '84 Mr. Drawell Strawberries that is ripe for the picking. I'm looking for either Mr. Bonds or Mr. Suzuki in trade.

Oh right he's injured, whatever, accept anyway. Send him to IR, start Falkenberg in the rotation instead, and in gratitude I'll even send Joba to AAA and replace him at long relief with Dock Ellis.

E: as much as I want your Darryl Strawberry I can't trade away my cleanup cleanup hitter or my leadoff hitter for him.

I've got an Eddie Mathews, top 10 in dingers for 11 straight seasons & still 21st in MLB history, but at the moment he's my only power-hitting lefty off the bench.

Don't forget to mention he's constantly injury-prone, so that's why oldskool never starts him for more than a month or two per season.

edit: can't believe the goddamn Oranges got a Pete Alexander (even injured) for 2 pitchers performing below league average.

To make this official, as discussed over in the EC sign-up thread:

Mules trade:
Don Mattingly
Mike Scioscia

Oranges trade:
Justin Morneau
Stan Coveleski

I, obviously, accept this agreement. If oldskool hasn't changed his mind on this one, then we're good to go.

If this trade goes through, bring up Benito Santiago from my minors to replace Scioscia, and drop Tim Crews down into AAA. Move Tim Belcher into MR, and put Coveleski in his slot as SP. Platoon Eddie Murray and Morneau at 1B for now until one of them shows some standout behavior.

I accept as well and need to go dig up my pitching rotation to see who I've got left as a starter.

E: Mathews is late in his career. 66 maybe?
And he's currently on my bench not due to injury but because he's not hitting better than McGwire at 1B, which means Pujols had to move to 3B.

It's '65 Mathews, I believe.

Also, you're going to put Viola in your rotation because he's the only real choice you've got.

Also also, the Pessimists take '18 Bob Shawkey, so tatankatonk's up next.

Just my opinion but either in-prime Clemens or Maddux were better offers was all I was thinking.

edit: on second thought, this puts the Oranges on the short side of starting pitching, giving them more gauntlet rounds to have to fight out of. I guess I can accept this outcome.

This reminds me, as much as it sucks, I'm going to need the EC owners to post their rosters in this thread, with any trades/roster moves that you have made editted in. Yes, that means copying, pasting, and reformatting. Regrettable, but unavoidable.

I too have Wade Boggs, though my version is likely a bit more over the hill than tatankatonk's. On the other hand, I won't ask for Pujols or Bonds.

That said, I pretty much have acceptable players at every position (well, barring catcher). I'd need an upgrade at any position besides SS or 2B for the guy.

I've got Rusty Staub before he fell apart, Vince Coleman who doesn't seem to do much but steal bases (but hot drat does he steal bases), and if you can wait until next year I have currently-injured Mike Lieberthal as a feasible backup catcher instead of relying on prayers for good rolls for Posey. Also "Where are you" Andy Van Slyke, "Can't stop hitting for contact" Taffy Wright. Take your pick, make an offer.

I don't think any of them would be automatic upgrades for me, sadly. My Boggs may be old but he's still apparently a fine bat, and I can't readily replace him myself, so I don't think i'd be getting much out of any of those deals.
