Dr. Honked posted:i agree but i couldn't put forward a rational case. i just loving hate spaces where tabs should be well its ez. you can resize ur tabstop in your ide to make hard tabs always fit the width you want, so when u bring in someone elses code if they use different tabstop it doesn't matter and every1 is happy. with spaces you have to tell the IDE to reformat it with hard tabs which is like 2 seconds of extra work. spaces instead of tabs is a sign your co-workers are probably doing other things wrong as well.

the other case against tabs is that, you might have noticed, there are programs that display code which are not editors (e.g. diff viewers) and cannot be customized in how they display tabs
