Who do you think might go in the TBA headliner slot at Inferno Festival Norway? They announced it all and left that out http://www.infernofestival.net/no/festival/artists.aspx

I really wish Immolation was the headliner. Vexovoid (CD) is up for sale on the Profound Lore site. I just found out about this site. It searches 76 distros for any release you're looking for and links you to them. Pretty awesome.

I don't think I'd call what you posted legitimate criticism. It was more of a flippant remark. I'd even be interested in reading about why a particular band was considered good or bad. But just saying it's good or bad doesn't really impart any meaningful opinion to the discussion. It wouldn't have normally caught my attention, except that it's exactly the same quality posting that goes on in youtube video comments. I think a discussion of what's wrong with European metal today would be interesting and educational. Since you seem to be an authority on the topic, maybe you'd like to share?

Alright dudes and dudettes, I think this may be because I keep listening to yellowgoat on the way to work, but I'm so loving in love with lovely speed-black metal. Basically bands like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mZG4ZvJcAQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1NGjJUGZgQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClJSNI_7c5I and also our lord and savior Bathory's first album and Nifelheim's first album as well. I don't want to bog down this already dumb post with too many embedded youtubes. Now I know you guys have to have some bands that have that fast, blackened, and old school sound. Bad recording is ancillary, it completes the vibe but I so much love for the production values to be above "our neighbor recorded us with a four track player and it was also raining and he's kinda deaf." Also https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNa1o8oQQAE is just beyond awesome right now to me. So, do you guys have anything I can get really excited about?

If I had to write a dissertation on why every band thats lovely is lovely, I'd never have time to listen to any good bands. There comes a point where a band is bland, generic, and/or boring enough that it doesn't deserve anything past "this poo poo blows." When I get slightly nauseous 30 seconds into a song and cant go on, we might have hit that point. No one made a flippant remark until the post was posted 3 times apparently and someone said LISTEN TO THIS ALREADY AND POST ABOUT IT. So now for something useful, don't think anyone posted this in regards to old school death metal...but I love this band Decrepitaph https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhBVLhf3Veg And also Grave Miasma https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6GOs92bYO5w Wyzt fucked around with this message at 07:21 on Feb 10, 2013 |

Baron Von Ghoulosh posted:Enslaved / Pallbearer / Ancient VVisdom Ancient VVisdom was solid. They played for 30 minutes and managed a nice mix of both albums. Pallbearer would have been amazing if the vocals weren't buried in the mix. They sounded great though. Royal Thunder was pretty good too. Overall, the show is worth it.

Saw them in SF on Saturday. Ancient VVisdom didn't seem that special. Rolling Thunder is a good live band; got people moving. I don't really think doom metal is a good live genre of metal and so Pallbearer just didn't create much energy. Enslaved was great. The clean vocals sounded really nice, Grutle had some nice banter, the heavy songs got the job done. There were some annoying people in the pit and it's a crowded area in front of the stage, so that was distracting at times. Having seen Gojira + DTP a few weeks ago though, I'd have to say that show was better.

I recently discovered a Russian folk metal band called Fferyllt: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLcrIWxFNNA I only found them because they did a cover of Eluviete's Inis Mona (I was looking up metal with bagpipes for somebody) but it seems that I've stumbled across something that I really like here. Thought I'd share. Edit: it seems this is their best-known song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZ7HV5fwhkw I don't know if I've seen such a disparity from what I imagined a band looked like and what they actually looked like. Not that it takes away from it or anything, mind you. CornHolio fucked around with this message at 02:37 on Feb 12, 2013 |

Dear lord, I think you've done it. You've found the worst metal video ever made! There is not a single thing about this video that is not hilariously awful and awkward as hell. The intro text is in loving papyrus for god's sake! My absolute favorite part though is seeing the really awkward and skinny guitarist wearing an Abercrombie sweater do death growls while looking in ten different directions as if looking for a way to escape the video. And then playing an out of key solo.

CornHolio posted:(I was looking up metal with bagpipes for somebody) Well since you were looking: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxvaL8QKUjM Yeah, I actually like the sound of bagpipes and this would be a half decent song with some guitars playing a couple of the melodies, sadly, that is not the case. They are pretty interesting to watch live though.
