joint injuries are somehow always horrifying

or it's so clearly "horry poo poo piss the knee is not meant to do that" that it evokes this sort of atavistic response of OH HOLY poo poo PLEASE DONT LET THAT EVER HAPPEN TO ME

and that's regardless of how the injured person takes it, i once saw a dude dislocate his elbow, like so completely that you could see the bone bulging out the skin and his reaction is "huh, guess it's out again, probably ought to go the hospital now" and it was still that reaction

the funny part about Haskell is that normal people quickly get the gut feel that the monad poo poo is a stupid spergy invention, but are then shown that category theory is a real mathematical field and are persuaded that there is something to it

the problem is that they don't realize that mathematicians doing category theory are spergy idiots wasting their own and everyone elses time

Due to really poo poo choices from my predecessors, I pay people to work with one called netlink.

http://southware.com/products/ecommerce-ebusiness-software/southware-netlink/

I guess it's technically not directly cobol, since "writing code" in it is mostly a matter of jerking around with some crappy dsl but it is written in cobol backed by cobol master file data

But then again "writing code" in rails is also just jerking around with some crappy dsl

I'm like halfway through the erlang book but still feel like I'm trying to get the hang of it. I don't feel like I could do much with it yet though :( the syntax already feels pretty familiar for the most part at least, it looks natural somewhat quickly after you start learning it

Haskell's insane typing is at least interesting. Haskell has all sorts of poo poo where the difference between a DB record that you edited and a DB record actually in the database are different types. Idiomatic Haskell is obscenely unambiguous. Haskell isn't "useless', it's just not trying to solve any interesting problems.
