i decided to try compiling some haskell sdl stuff on os x and apparently hilarious things happen due to the fact that sdl fucks with your main and haskell's ffi doesn't like that. god i hate everything

Serioustalk, HyperCard was mega cool and gave me my head start in event driven frameworks, when I had computational exercises in undergrad physics and everyone else did them in basic I used HyperCard, not to be a hipster but just because it was incredibly fun

the funny part about Haskell is that normal people quickly get the gut feel that the monad poo poo is a stupid spergy invention, but are then shown that category theory is a real mathematical field and are persuaded that there is something to it the problem is that they don't realize that mathematicians doing category theory are spergy idiots wasting their own and everyone elses time

the two primary developers of ghc are employed by microsoft, amongst others so i'm lead to believe. microsoft research run internships for work on haskell http://hackage.haskell.org/trac/ghc/wiki/Internships c# is possibly one of the best examples of transfer of academic research into industry tools (within programming)

Haskell's insane typing is at least interesting. Haskell has all sorts of poo poo where the difference between a DB record that you edited and a DB record actually in the database are different types. Idiomatic Haskell is obscenely unambiguous. Haskell isn't "useless', it's just not trying to solve any interesting problems.
