Slasherfan posted:Looks like the poster for Scary Movie 5 ran into problems and people complained so they had to replace it, the left one is the original the right is the new one. Movie posters have been really dull since the MPAA brought in that dumb "can't exhale weed smoke directly at the viewer" rule.

This one might not exactly have turned out so horrible if Wolverine didn't stick out like a sore thumb what with the completely different lighting on him and the ninjas.

I don't think they shouldn't do it, but it's not really a hypersensitivity thing, or at least not a faked one. It's sort of physically painful on a gut level to see that kind of imagery. Very effective for what they're doing and I don't hold it against them, but at least on my end it throws me immediately right back to 2001.

Yeah, as a fellow New Yorker (well, okay, I don't live in the city, but my uncle was there, so), it really did bring me right back there, and I think that's why I like them so much. They set up a really massive feeling of dread. Hypersensitivity really isn't the word for it, but some people really do get too worked up and OVERsensitive about it.

If Roland Emmerich wasn't involved in the film it might have a chance of using 9/11 imagery tastefully.

Those Disney posters are mostly great concepts with lovely execution. It always sucks to see someone blow a good idea by not being a good enough artist yet. Then again, if they were better, I might see the flaws. I dunno poo poo at least they picked something other than Fight Club or Reservoir Dogs to make into a poster.

Do all images of people in front of national monuments give you this feeling, or is it just because of the text? I thought those posters were really tastefully done. I don't necessarily think they're great movie posters, but they're certainly not bad, and apart from the ominous text (which would be ominous in front of any image of people doing things), I didn't find anything offensive or disquieting about them. Definitely better than the "OMG NOT THE WHITE HOUSE" theme of Olympus Has Fallen. Cpt. Spring Types fucked around with this message at 05:07 on Mar 26, 2013 |

Or maybe Jamie Foxx and Channing Tatum will be fighting aliens! Seriously, how fun would that be? Market the whole thing as terrorists taking over the White House, then aliens and ghosts out of nowhere. Did that ever happen in an actual movie? I know about the vampires in From Dusk Till Dawn, and JJ Abrams' TV series Felicity introducing time travel in the series finale. The MSJ fucked around with this message at 13:28 on Mar 26, 2013 |

Why not have the best of both worlds and instead of featuring aliens and ghosts, have the antagonists be ALIEN GHOSTS. Not only are they not of this earth, but they're dead, and regular weapons cannot harm them. President Foxx has to help Agent Tatum to track down a series of special guns that were created by several founding fathers who were occultists, and hidden away in various locales throughout Washington DC with the help of benevolent British poltergeists.
