Thanks for the ebay price chat. I just started buying vinyl, and I thought I just didn't get it. A couple of my favorite records were asking for over $200 each. I don't want a collectors item, I want something to enjoy listening to. I'm going to be in Salt Lake City tomorrow, any recommendations on good record stores?

Ehh, I'm good. I don't $70 need it. Doesn't RSD usually show prices for the day's releases or is that up to the individual record stores?

I'm just getting it because Zaireeka is one of my favorite albums ever. You don't have to actually use all four LPs at once... I'm kind of looking forward to mixing it with the CDs.

Yeah you don't need to listen to all four at once. You can listen to just two or one or random sides together. It's pretty neat.

I Might Be Adam posted:I know the idea of playing 4 CDs at once was already kinda ridiculous but 4 LPs? I'm kinda conflicted with buying it as I know I'll never ever play all 4 records at the same time. The new Iron Lung LP comes with an additional record that you're supposed to sync up to another turntable whilst playing the original record. Not sure what to think about that but I felt I had to mention it

I can't remember what it was like to have less than 4 turntables. The sickness is growing stronger.

It's when you start having more than one tonearm per player that you should start thinking about committing yourself to an institution. (If you're past that point then I'm truly sorry.)

I technically have two turntables but can't be bothered to set the other one up because I'm so loving lazy. Everyone should have a house full of Crosleys or something for this purpose. The 4 CD thing made sense at the time. 10-15 years ago, I bet i could have found a couple of friends that could supply a CD player boombox. Now, I don't even own a CD player that isn't a computer/video game console. Speaking of turntables, every time I'm at Fry's, I pass through their stereo section and always see some cheapo USB turntables and then one expensive Denon turntable. Where would an expensive Denon turntable fit into the turntable buying recommendations?

Instead of having to get four boomboxes, you could load one disc up on your computer, one on your stereo, one on your TV, and get a friend to bring their laptop and some speakers or whatever. I've listened to the album with all four discs before just by myself. It's not that hard, it just takes some ingenuity. I think adding records into the mix should make things more interesting. And if you do somehow get four turntables together, syncing up the four LPs should be a lot easier than doing it with CDs (although it's more fun when they're out of sync).

And you're right, if I did have 4 discs or 4 collections of mp3s it would be super easy. Still, the whole idea of 4 LPs... Maybe I could hold a DJ at gunpoint on a Saturday night at some swank rear end dance club and force everyone to listen to Zaireeka.

My mono copy of Sgt. Pepper's arrived just now, and it is pretty much exactly what he described. I would've given the sleeve a VG+ at best but I'm still very pleased. There's a fair bit of surface noise on side 1 (side 2 is pretty good) but it's definitely not a bad sounding copy, and man it's nicer in mono than in stereo.

I just placed my first order on Discogs for the original Sweeney Todd soundtrack, apparently with a VG+ sleeve and M supposedly unplayed records.

Hoping it goes well because it's a record I had dozens of opportunities to buy directly from the band and didn't. Only seen it pop up on ebay a couple times too. I was planning to pay at least $40+ next time it went up on ebay, so I jumped when I saw a copy for $25. My Heart to Joy - Seasons in Verse, not a huge in demand release but they broke up and there's only 500 copies. I'm sure now that I found it they'll repress it.

The only copy I've seen in a store was beat to absolute poo poo and was $75 so I got a good deal. The inner sleeve has come apart on one side and has a big (but clean) split on the other, not sure if I want to try and glue it yet. Discogs is great and I probably do like 2/3 of my online buying from there.

I've purchased 5-6 or so now from Discogs from different sellers and I've only got good things to say, painless transactions and everyone so far has gone through great pains to accurately describe the condition. Does someone in the UK mind picking up that J&MC release for me on RSD? I'm willing to shoot you a few extra bucks for the trouble.

After closely looking at the cover of Sports, it's really blurry, and looks all stretched and pixelated. Pretty bummed . My King Krule is the same way.

Here are a couple random grabs I've bought recently No Jacket Required is in really great shape, with only mild wear to the edges and the vinyl is in near mint condition. Not bad for $4. After a fuckup from the seller and a month later this finally arrived. Single sided 7" with the b-side being replaced with the same etchings that were on Voyager 1's Golden Record. I couldn't get it to show up very well with my camera but here's a better one that's not mine.

I went to one of their shows before they released it and picked up Factory Showroom and the Brass Band "Other Thing" EP. I really wanted Nanobots on vinyl but apparently there was some miscommunication or something along the production line and it didn't come out until a few days after the CD version so I've got that signed by the Johns.

In/Casino/Out, Vaya and Relationship of Command are some of my favorite energetic albums to listen to. I'll probably find something to like in Acrobatic Tenament. But I'm getting that collector feeling where like, if I own all of their records BUT that one on vinyl I can't sleep (not literally).
