White Lung is female fronted punk, not metal, but I'm going to recommend that you listen to them anyway.

So I'm gathering Arch Enemy is on the "hate" part of the Pantera love-hate-nostalgic love trajectory, but give this a listen anyway. It's not my particular flavor of metal but I still listen to it sometimes. ninja: and some more Jess and the Ancient Ones https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Udd0o5VpX2k

They pop up in this thread from time to time, but I think they're good enough to warrant some repetition. At the very least they're pretty goddamn unique. Also, I like Arch Enemy, gently caress the haters.

Obligatory mention of Blood Ceremony and The Devil's Blood. Draconian also have some nice female vocals. For evil and horrifying women, try Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult.

Some more great suggestions, but this Just might be my new favourite thing. Also can someone explain the Arch Enemy hate to me? I haven't really listened to them and have no opinion either way but given that I don't have much of a developed ear for harsher vocals yet I'm not sure what seems to make them as "bad" as others have painted them as.

For women in extreme metal, the only one coming to mind which hasn't been mentioned yet is Rachel from two of Sinister's albums. There was too much mike cupping for my tastes, and honestly little memorability among the songs, but this one was decent: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4RfgIZgJXDM For non-extreme metal there also was Power Symphony, but they were rather, er, not linkworthy. And in crap news, the bassist for Polish band Hate has been found dead: http://www.blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=188417 Blabbermouth posted:Polish extreme metallers HATE have released the following statement: Seems like they were just starting to get more attention, too. So, it looks like Maiden are going to do another short string of dates in the US this fall. I wonder if this will be another Seventh Son of a Seventh Son theme or another throwback theme. Iron Maiden have announced seven September U.S. shows with support from Megadeth. One special show in San Bernardino, CA has been dubbed ‘The Battle Of San Bernardino‘ and will also feature Anthrax, Testament and more. Dates for the trek can be found below: 09/03 Raleigh, NC – Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion 09/05 Nashville, TN – Bridgestone Arena 09/07 Kansas City, MO – Sprint Center 09/08 St. Louis, MO – Verizon Wireless 09/10 Austin, TX – 360 Amphitheater 09/12 Las Vegas, NV – Mandalay Bay Events Center 09/13 San Bernardino, CA – San Manuel Amphitheater (‘The Battle Of San Bernardino‘) (feat. Anthrax, Testament, Overkill and Sabaton) Ticketing details can be found at Ironmaiden.com.
