I don't know what the thread's opinion on livebloggers is, but if you want to know how an engaged archival reader might react to John's retcon arms, check out LOBAC's latest post (near the bottom). This is the first time she's seen a panel that has one of John's arms since Hussie added them in. I'm not sure if it'd get a better reaction out of her if Hussie left the arms in or removed them after she's seen one or two more of them.

I might be wrong but I think this is the first time (aside from one example I'll get to later) Hussie has done this sort of direct-talking to the character in the narration when Hussie himself wasn't present and wasn't talking to Caliborn. Rather than the usual narration of a story this sequence sort of gives the impression that Hussie is sort of talking to all the characters in the story, it's just none of them have been able to actually perceive him before aside from Caliborn and now Vriska. And maybe Doc Scratch, I dunno. The only other time I can recall that happening is here which I always thought had a vaguely sinister air about it. Given his joy in snuffing out the lives of those in his story, I think we know who the even-bigger-bad-guy is in regards to Caliborn.

I was coming here to post this. Oh man, I just realized, if he keeps them in this is going to wind up being like Jack's Bloody Arm, but way longer running, for archive readers. And the payoff when the big reveal hits will be fantastic.

More helpfully, it was about the fact that in every appearance Bec Noir made after the Scratch (i.e. whenever we saw him in the troll session) his arm was drenched in red blood, and all the communities for the comic were desperately trying to figure out whose it was. As an archival reader though, I didn't particularly notice it as some huge mystery that needed solving.

Huh. So now pulling out the pins makes everyone come back to life before you? Didn't it have to do with going to different timelines where they were alive and dead?

lotus circle posted:Huh. So now pulling out the pins makes everyone come back to life before you? Didn't it have to do with going to different timelines where they were alive and dead? Well, when you exist outside the timeline of the comic, you have to make a few exceptions. EDIT: PLEASE tell me Die still has those pins for the rest of the Crew. That would be the only thing that could make this update any better, honestly.

Tunicate posted:So the cuestaff is what lets you push the Felt around, I guess? Yeah, it took this update to make me realize exactly what Caliborn's personality has to do with Lord English. He really is a huge manchild. Everytime he finds a newer, shinier "toy", he discards the old one without a second thought. Like he discard his Sucker for Lil' Cal, and now how he discarded his command staff / rifle for the reality-destroying Wand. He's really just leaving a huge mess all over time as he jumps around. Part of defeating Lord English is scavenging all the tools he has thrown away. To clean up after him. Or as the Maid of Time put it: quote:ARADIA: while he rounds the ring undoing the work of the gods we must prepare for his undoing as well quote:AA: time is like a game It's time to pick up the playroom. To put away all the toys, to clean up all the messes. It's time to defeat Lord English. Bobulus fucked around with this message at 04:38 on Apr 8, 2013 |
