Hi guys. I had a long, elaborate post written up but my rear end in a top hat phone decided to fck around and not post it. Fun.

Anyway long story short: DJ at the bar on Saturday night plays this song at the end of the night, after he played some sing along songs from the 60s like Stand By Me amd Ain't No Mountain High Enough, that is in my head and really bugging me.

My description kinda sucks, but I remember the video he had to go with it so that may help.

It's intro sounds a little like When a Man Loves a Woma. It was a group of four men, the lead singer had a mustache amd they focused on him quite a bit. It looked like they were in a courtyard on a muggy day, probably British. For some reason, I remember tnem wearing plaid suits, or at least blazers. I think the chorus went something like "but its alright', and they sounded very mellow, almost soul or blues like.

Thats about all I've got. If you guys have no idea its no nog deal. I'm sure I'll see the DJ and hear the song again, its just been bugging me since that night. If I don't reply back, its because I ran this loving phone over with my car nd destroyed it Office Space style.

Thanks guys!

First thing that comes to mind is Procol Harum's Whiter Shade of Pale.

I heard some garage punk song in a record store, but I didn't ask the clerk what band it was, because I didn't want to seem uncool.

The lyrics go something like:

Spring break, MTV
[something something]
Back of the bus
Joe got on
And started to cuss

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

This is a song I've heard a couple of times on a local classic rock station. It has a sad gritty blues feel very similar to Robin Trower's "Bridge of Sighs", but a little more 4/4 upbeat sounding. The singer's voice is also very similar to someone like Robin Trower or Joe Cocker.

The lyrics to what I assume the chorus is

[something that rhymes with "give it away"] hey
[something something something]
Give it awaaay
Coming back tomorrow just like today

and then a part of one of the verses that I could make out:

Take a second, baby, everybody's learning to breathe.

I was at work and on a call when the song came on the radio, so I didn't get a chance to write down any of the other lyrics. I figured with that much, it would pop right up on a google search, but no luck at all.

Whats the name of The Stripper Music? I'm talking about the brassy theme that plays on a tv show whenever theres a striptease, its typically used for comedy more than anything else.

Chemo-kitties can have “accidents” too!

I have a friend asking for help identifying a song she heard last week, and I've hit a wall. Here's what she's told me:

quote:

Had the same beat as "Crimson & Clover."

Female lead, with female backup vocals.

Lyrics are about how much she loves her man.

Not She & Him, a similar sound but not quite as syrupy. Cleaner sounding than Best Coast.

Was playing on a satellite radio station with other indie and alt rock songs from the last five or so years.

I don't listen to much indie music so I'm sure I'm missing something.

This is not so much identifying a specific song but a genre. This is a short film from the 1980s. I'd like to know what the style of music is called, if there is a term for it. Very upbeat, optimistic, hopeful tune.

I just woke up with this song in my head, and I could have sworn it was a Tegan and Sara song, but now I'm not even sure if it's a real song at all. The only thing I have is the chorus, which goes "Relax, ___ __ ___ _____, (sounds like "on/'bout me and you") I've got, A pocket for two." Commas indicate rhythm/line breaks. The voice sounded like a cross between Tegan or Sara and the girl from the Knife.

Is this a real song, or am I channeling some sort of muse during my naps?

I was watching SNL last night that had host Ben Affleck and musical guest Kanye West. There was a commercial for a new Lonely Island album entitled "The Wack Album". The commercial promoted a song where Andy Samberg was spelling out his name but what he was spelling was obnoxiously long. I thought it was catchy and looked it up. Couldn't find a thing. Anybody know what Lonely Island song I'm referring to?

Slightly different angle on the thread, but I'm trying to identify a specific dance move and (if any) what song it's specifically associated with. I'm reasonably sure it's not just a funny motion, but a specific novelty dance move. It's the one that involves shuffling/bouncing side to side with the elbows cocked and bobbing the head side to side, looks vaguely almost like some kind of Irish traditional thing.

I ask because it's in the background of the video for "Boombox" by Lonely Island, the dance the NYPD cop in the middle is doing right around 1:08 in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yvEYKRF5IA&t=1s

So there's this song, I must have heard it when I was 8 or 9 (so late 90s). It was a UK dance channel type song with a Chinese melody in the background. The music video featured (I think) a sumo wrestler, a cowboy and maybe a kung fu fighter.

I know the melody but I seriously doubt anyone's going to get this. I've been looking for it for the past 8 years and no luck so far.

edit: Even if you don't know it, how the hell do I find it? I was thinking of listening to every UK dance compilation CD from 1997-2003. Good idea?

What was that pop song by a young female vocalist, US, ca 2005? Most of the music video was of her on the school bus, with the story being that her boyfriend hosed up, how she doesn't want to see him anymore, etc.? I think she had an Italian-sounding name.

I heard this song while working the other day and it reminded me that I had heard it before as a kid and it's gonna bug the poo poo out of me if I don't figure out what it is. It's got a smooth flow to it, I feel like I've heard it in a movie before too, most likely a basketball one. The song has a very slow tempo to it and it goes "Duhnuh *beat* duhnuh *beat* duhhhhhnuhnuhnuh" if I were to try to transcribe the main beat. It's hard for me to describe it especially because there are no lyrics.

I have another song I really want to find, but I only remember the music video. It had a black woman being driven around a city in a taxi while looking out the window and singing. Pretty sure it was by a non-American group.

Finally, I’ll repost the other song I was looking for:

Also, I heard another song at H&M about 2 months ago. It had an upbeat instrumental part [with a strong beat] and then a male voice came in and started rapping. The lyrics went something like this:

"show them what you got"
"make it easy"
"all the things (that?) you do"
"yeah it's true"

Google, iTunes, and YouTube have been unhelpful so far.

Rockapella. Everyone knows they sang that Carmen Sandiego song. But while they were actually on the TV Show, they sang various educational song parodies as well. One of these is stuck in my head, and I cannot find it anywhere.

It was a parody of Billy Joel's "For the Longest Time", and the chorus went "Oooooooooh, there's more than seven seas..." repeat. And then in the verses, they'd name all the seas of the world.

Heck, I've even looked for a torrent of the TV series to go through it episode by episode, but it seems that there isn't even one of those on the internet. The Rockapella website doesn't list any of the educational parodies they sang, nor does wikipedia. Can anyone help? Or did my fevered childhood mind invent this parody out of thin air?

You didn't make it up. From what I can tell, it ran in a feature called ACME Music Net Extra that would get tacked on after the credits on some season 2 episodes. A couple places specifically cite the episode The Case of the Little Boy Lost as having it, but the copies of the show online don't include it. Still, it should give you some sense of where to look.
