Apparently goons are all #4 unless it's a pumpkin beer or 120 minute (I am by no means a fan of 120 minute). If anything I'm a #9, but aren't we all?

My friend just call me from the Firestone Walker brewpub asking if I wanted anything brought back from there. Told him to grab me some Parabola, Sucaba, and some XIV if they have some. He said the Sucaba was $45. Parabola around the same and more for 2012 parabola. The XIII was $100 and I don't even remember what the XIV was. What's with those prices? Parabola is like $13 here. e: I can sort of see with the XIII, but the rest are ridiculous.

It sounds like that is the "buy it to drink here" price (and still high for that imo). My local spot does -25% on bottles if you want to carry them out without opening instead of drinking at the table.

That's what I was thinking. Still ridiculously high markup. Maybe there's a bottle shop a mile away that has some for regular price. Oh well. I just wanted to try Sucaba, drat it!

Sucaba has been easy for me to find. Parabola on the other hand... Grrrr. Any MD goons have any ideas? I'm in Glen Burnie.

Parabola 2013 was supposed to be $15 for quite a while at the brewery itself.

No more Brooklyn Monster! Sad to see it go. It was a regular pickup every year since it was priced similarly to Black Chocolate Stout. http://brooklynbrewery.com/blog/news/r-i-p-monster-ale-the-captain-goes-down-with-the-ship/

Hey Florida people or those planning on going to Tampa in the next month or so: CCB is having a random drawing for BA Hunahpu. You have to enter between 5:30 and 6 (sorry for the 17 minutes notice). You can only enter once, and the name entered has to be whats on their ID. You can have a proxy, but you have to enter that name, not your own. Send the e-mail to random@cigarcitybrewing.com . They are apparently having more drawings throughout the next couple weeks, drawing 18 at a time. you have a month to get your beer after the drawing.

funkybottoms posted:yeah, my enthusiasm for Perennial has almost completely waned- i haven't really enjoyed any of their beers yet (including Abraxas), and at the price, it's a huge ask for me to buy more. i also have a 17 and if it isn't any good... gently caress 'em. Just opened my 17 and... I really like this. Much better than Abraxas, in my opinion. The mint adds a bitterness that I didn't expect that compliments the chocolate well. Not super thick, which makes it super drinkable. As I just was at a place I saw another bottle, I might have to swing back and get another one. This is definitely a summer stout. At said place, though, I did find a lone bottle of Doom sitting on the shelf. Since I haven't had, I snagged it.

Cracked a bottle of Crooked Stave's Hop Savant tonight. This is some seriously good poo poo, I need to go back and find some more. Such a nice mix of tropical and resiny hops, brett funk and sweet malt to balance. I don't feel like this needs any time for the brett to develop further, it's great as is.

I bought one the last time Crooked Stave chat came up and I agree. It was basically perfect on the sour front, not too sour nor underwhelming, and it really added a wonderful funk to the beer that feels essential to the overall taste. I think it's kind of impossible to go wrong with Crooked Stave at the moment, but it is definitely a great offering. Oddly enough while there are some trendy beers that are seemingly always out of stock at my local store, they're never out of Crooked Stave's stuff which is a-okay by me. Anyone got any experience with Sierra Nevada Porter that's past its sell-by date, because there's a load here for £1.25 a bottle which seems decent if it's going to be drinkable.
