And a "Foree Electronics" truck. :haw:

Right so on my stockpiles tab I have 7 construction material piles and underneath it says "-24 daily" I take it that's not a minus sign it's more of a, I dunno... Dash next to the number?

And does it add up every in game night or actual night night?

Decided to go to the warehouse for the 8 outpost slots.

No, that's a minus sign, materials get used up at a stupid huge rate for whatever reason. I assume it's to represent the need to maintain your fortifications, your buildings, and your outposts. It might or might not be influenced by the size of your base, how many outposts you have, and/or how many or what kind of buildings you have. The game's not very good at explaining stuff like that.

I'm also pretty sure resource use is calculated every real-world day.

Aw hell, I just moved into the Alamo bar for my new base. I guess I need to scrounge up some more influence and materials to relocate again. Eight outposts sounds super handy.

I downloaded the trial and it's not really selling me on the game. The graphics are really rough and I keep getting weird collision detections with the zombies when they run at me. Most everything else about the game has me interested but the overall state of the gameplay in the intro part put me off buying it.

There are a lot of references to horror media in general, and zombie media in particular, scattered throughout the game. I know I put a bunch in the dialogue, and the environment artists in particular went crazy with little details like the Foree Electronics truck.

See also Grimes for Sheriff posters, Campbell Used Autos, and the Plants vs. Zombies scene reenacted in a backyard.

Also, the game starts with your best friend Ed getting bitten by a zombie, for crying out loud. :)

You'll hopefully get a mission to go find them. Basically it means that they were out in the world and something happened to make them hunker down.

I think construction materials get used repairing weapons and cars. I had a consumption rate of like 20 yesterday but as soon as I got on today it was 0.

Yeah losing resources, trust, morale, resources and potentially survivors just for turning the game off for a day is really dumb and definitely my biggest gripe with the game. Interesting idea, awful implementation.

Agreed. This is absolutely my biggest issue with the game. I shouldn't be punished for not playing the game.

On a related note, when an X-box console is disconnected from the Internet, the date and time defaults to midnight on November 22, 2005. Wonder what would happen if you tried to load a game without Internet access - or what would happen if you did that, played a while, and then reloaded that same game on a console that's connected. Since it will have been almost eight years, will everyone just be dead?

If it helps, time degradation is only up to a point - I think they've said there's not much difference in the game between being gone 1 day and being gone 1 week.

That's actually really good to know, thanks. I can stomach some basic real-to-game conversion as long as it isn't too punishing. I just pictured coming back after a week to a bunch of mutinying survivors and all my supplies used up.

The glow is a guide, my friend. Though it falls to you to avert catastrophe, you will never fight alone.
Something I feel that may be understated is the ability to break open supplies. When you reach the limits of what you can store (And you will for food and medicine if you raid houses frequently) don't be afraid to bust them open. The common snack can seriously save your rear end in a pinch when you're getting swarmed and need all the stamina you can get to keep pulling off finishing moves. Same for medicine stashes, as it commonly gives out the good stuff like morphine and codeine.

They are selected like normal items then used with RB. The alarm clock is placed on the ground and rings 3-5 seconds later attracting zombies. I think the toys can be thrown at windows to attract zombies to them.

They are zombie distractors, you use them and they make noise luring zombies away.

Alarm clocks distract zombies. The toys say something about busting out windows, but I haven't played around with one, yet.

You can use the alarm clocks to lure or distract zombies (into a land mine, for example). Not sure about the broken toys.

Yeah, that's basically it. The sound of breaking glass is hella loud and will attract any zombies within a pretty large area, it's sorta useful if they're spreading out around the building you're in and you want to lure them into a single chokepoint to off them or to make it easier to sneak out the back door.

I just lost Marcus, I was in a store in Marshell looking for some disinfectant to help speed along my new medical facility when I searched too loudly and attracted a horde. Now Marcus has 7 fighting/Powerhouse/heavy weapons, a hoe, pills, snacks, supplex and his spin move. He clears multiple hordes single handed.

I was behind a counter in a store when they came in and they brought a screamer with. I kept getting interupted before I could get some healing in, before I could insta kill the downed/staggered zombies. I couldn't ju,p over the counter to get the screamer, had to fight through the constant wave, took down dozens before I finally killed the screamer, but at that point I was on my second PRESS A life and was trying to flee outside to my car. I was grabbed at the doorway.

At least I got the A-hole achievement.

I did the "go get a doctor for Ed" mission and despite the doctor saying that he would pull through after some rest Ed just hopped up in the middle of the cutscene and walked off, perfectly cured. I decided to use him to go do a mission to help people barricade a house because surely he could handle it, and he got jumped by two ferals at once. RIP Ed.

Also instead of moving all the way across the map into the house Jacob wanted us to all move to, I moved down the street to the better house in the middle of the first town. Was this a huge mistake? I hadn't even searched 1/4th of the houses in the first area yet so I figured I should probably do that before moving on.

You can spot infestations from survey points. Also, that issue is going to be fixed in the patch.

You can see them from survey points, but also you might just have a bunch of them back at the starting area of the game, which is a glitch that will be fixed in the next patch. You could go investigate.

Yeah, I learned pretty quick that survey points aren't one-time deals for spotting storyline places like I thought at first. Making a trip to the nearest one every couple in game days is a good idea so you can stay on top of infestations before they get really bad.

So according to Patrick Klepek at Giantbomb.com State of Decay is just behind Minecraft for fastest selling XBLA game. I believe he said it sold something on the order of over 270k already.

I'm doing pretty good with my current playthrough, we've moved over to Snyder (get it?) Warehouse down south and are set up fairly well. The only person who has died so far is the Pastor and he bit it from that Black Flu poo poo. Also if you take Edged specialization you become a loving monster with a sword. So here's where I'm at in my first playthrough:

Moved to the Alamo, I'm to the part where some thug is robbing folks. I've moved to "The Alamo" base, it's loving awesome and I've upgraded the sniper & added a sleeping area, medical station and basic workshop. I'm currently pillaging the local area for supplies (literally too much). Pastor Williams hasn't died yet, though he's sick.

BUT! Maya and Jacob are missing. I don't give a poo poo about Jacob, but my home girl Maya :reddit:. How do I find her?

Are there any bases with a generator built in? I remember seeing a sweet looking boat base in some concept art that was suppose to have one, but I couldn't find it in game :(. So far I have found:

Ascension Church
Kirkman Residence
Savini Residence
McReady's Farmhouse
The Alamo
Snyder Trucking

And I think that's all there is. Making Snyder Trucking the biggest base. Wish there was more, or that you could make any place a base. I would love to have the abandoned factory outside Marshall as a base.

Anyway I stopped playing until the new patch hits. I'm sick of no one standing guard on the tower and letting zombies in and I'm sick of "Too many infestations" from infestations across the map.
