I thought I'd share something that happened to me today. For context, I'm a Environmental Sciences grad student studying birds, so I spend my whole summer (and winter) wandering around other people's properties monitoring bluebirds. One of the properties I monitor is owned by a local vet, who is also a federally licensed wildlife rehabilitator. Going to his property is always my favorite because of things like this:  This is Sunshine. (Also Harriet the wire haired mutt)  He was abandoned as a baby (likely his mom was hit by a car) and brought to Archie (the vet) to be raised.  Apparently this morning he slept in late and missed his morning feeding, so he woke up a very hungry baby.  He decided that since his mama (Archie's wife) was busy riding the horses, the next best thing was to climb into the car of the visiting researcher and lick the bluebirds (and my hand and my knees and my boots etc). Lucky for him he got fed very soon after he realized that bluebirds were not a viable source of milk.

Yeah, my picture is from SA-kuva which I thought the one with the soldier might originate from as well. The caption on the site referred to them as Niku and Naku, and they were the mascots of their regiment. I couldn't find any more information about them though.
