Actually it's that in my office, the doctors attack you FIRST, before you shoot them. Talk about world turned upside down! Although I think I could really get into this game if it had even the slightest graphics tune-up, even just getting it to doom level, so you can distinguish the enemies who are more than, like, three feet away from the wall textures.

All of the best corporate offices have rooms dedicated to housing firing squads managed by Sicilian men and Dick Cheney randomly appearing to kill you, then teleporting off after you shoot him a few times.

For me, it's what kills the game. I can play Wolfenstein because I can see what's going on. Even at 320x200 or whatever it runs at natively, the contrast between the plain walls and the enemies means I can actually SEE them. Blake Stone has way more colorful, exciting graphics and backgrounds, but that means I'll open a door and be presented with a mash of color that's just a big moving wad, and I can't pick out enemies from background. edit: which is why it sort of sucks. Just in my short messing around with the game, I can tell it's got a lot of flavor and heart, and I'd really enjoy it if I could actually see what was happening. I think it'd be a thousand times better if I could just up the rez to even 640x480 or equivalent.

I think Blake Stone is overall notably better than Wolf 3D. The automap helps a lot, the game has more varied environments, the vending machines are neat and practical, and it keeps Wolf 3D's combat, but makes things more exciting by giving you more varied targets instead of Wolf 3D's "soldier with a gun" that every enemy (except the ghost Hitlers) in Wolf 3D was. The only really annoying things in Blake Stone are learning how to handle informants and those annoying plasma monsters that can endlessly spawn in from the wall. Otherwise, it's better than Wolf 3D.

It's primarily designed for Team LMS, with the players split into two teams--Heroes and Villains, going against each other until only one team remains. People liked singleplayer with it, though, so I made a singleplayer video. Also, it's not really god mode at all! Instead of weapons, the Villains get powerups that increase their various attributes, like damage or resistance. On picking up all the powerups, the Cyberdemon gets a 0.464 resistance, meaning he takes a little under half damage from everything. If I've put the resistance too high, though, I can lower it down. Would that be good? horse mans posted:Hahah the chaingunner with the Doom visor replacing his head. How insanely low-effort. The enemy set isn't mine and won't come with it, don't worry. Hey, I figured that I'd post a Doom wad I made a few years ago. It's quite unlike any other map made for Doom, at least! It split people pretty much into those who loved it and those who hated its guts. Evil Eye Please don't jump or crouch since that's cheating! Free aiming is fine, but probably won't help you at all. Any modern source port except Doomsday should be fine. Definitely don't use Brutal Doom. I'd like to hear what you guys think, since Doomworld as a community is quite horrible in my opinion and I've never liked posting there. I don't make any Doom maps these days, but I have a few game projects going on and I guess any criticism here will help me in game and level design in general. If you guys enjoy this, I can post some other maps I've made back in the days. Most break the typical Doom map mold while some are more old-fashioned standard maps.

Oh man, it's so close now. I haven't been this excited for a game's launch since New Vegas. I've been playing around in UDK trying to learn the editor but it's a bit daunting. I think I might just sketch out map ideas on graph paper and start with Classic Mode to make maps.

I'm kind of confused about the rights to the Duke Nukem IP. Does Gearbox/2K own the Duke Nukem IP now, or do they just own Duke Nukem Forever? Because we got Duke Nukem 3D and the three Duke Nukem platforming games on Steam, and the publishers are listed as Devolver Digital and Interceptor respectively, with not even a hinting of 2K anywhere.

QuestWhat posted:It's supposed to make enemy attacks less accurate. Like you said, dodging the Imp's fireballs becomes more difficult due to them becoming less predictable but when using it against enemies that have hitscan weapons, it can be a lifesaver on higher difficulties in room with tons of shotgun-wielding zombies. Hey, full 3d engines can do that to. Unreal Tournament had support for welding together parts of the map (though it sometimes made the bots stupid as poo poo if you created loops) and Valve recently reinvented it while working on Portal 2.

The Marathon guys called that "5D space". Their engine could do it without any special tricks and the games are full of impossible spaces where it happens accidentally- buildings where the first story ceiling is above the second story floor, hallways that pass through rooms without connecting to them, etc.

This is kind of a begging post, but could someone put up a link to download Project MSX that's not Mediafire? I'm deployed and the comm guys decided to block Mediafire along with all the porn sites, because officers hate fun. I've googled to no avail; everything links back to the ZDoom topic. The mod looks fun as hell and I'm tired of annoying my roommate by playing Brutal Doom on Tricks And Traps and telling the room full of Barons and a Cyberdemon to go gently caress themselves.

Is there a way to bind strafe left and strafe right in Blake Stone? The config menu only let's you set a toggle key for strafe. When you toggle it mouse movement left and right is switched to strafe left and strafe right ... whitch is terrible. I know, circle-strafing probably wasn't invented when Blake Stone came out.

My biggest thing with that game is that I'm worried about all of the action just taking place in big empty rooms that fill with enemies. That poo poo gets boring. having just played through the Rage Scorchers DLC I don't think there was a single instance of an enemy already being in the environment before I entered an arena.

All the enemies in Shadow Warrior went down quickly, but they could also kill you ridiculously quickly as well if you weren't using the right weapon for the right job. At least half th efun of shadow warrior were the huge, complicated levels and all the secrets you could find. I never much liked the combat, and some of the enemies (those werewolf things? ugh) really loving sucked, but those maps are still some of my favorites, especially the ones in episode 2. They're just sooooooo big and have so much variety in each one. Somehow I doubt that's going to be recreated.

I'm pretty sure the Ripper Heart was confirmed to return, so there has to be something to tear a fresh supply of throbbing weapons from. Actually most of the enemies in Shadow Warrior didn't seem too fun to fight, but the worst were the hornets. They're worse nuisance enemies than the slimers in Nukem and the hands in Blood; they're just too hard to hit and their damage builds up fast.

It's amazing how much time some early FPS developers spent on secret areas in levels. Even though I played it years ago, the secret "Gulliver" rooms in Constantine's Manion in Thief 1 remains one of the most wondrous and awe-inspiring find I've ever encountered in a video game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPyH_-caZMg My favorite part is when you become tiny and starts around 1:30 as you emerge from a faucet.
