She claims she'll be using the money to buy necessary machinery, a place to house the machinery and workers, and also pay people to sell her shirts. $2,500. The Balam: Rise of the Bolontiku - Currently unfinished urban fantasy novel. He needs $17,000 so he can hire editors, proofreaders, and other things that I will admit are necessary. He also provides a sample of his writing. I was going to put some choice quotes here, but nearly the entire thing is choice quotes. It is really bad. Also the villains in this are aliens called Croats - which are an actual ethnic group in reality. Transformers Shorts - This guy made some stop motion Transformers videos a while ago, and he's actually got talent in that area. I've done stop motion before, and it is really hard to get right. The opening video is from 2007, but he goes on to show more recent videos which display definite improvement. While he's good at getting the stop motion to work, he's not very good at voice acting or figuring out how to frame the shot correctly. The main problem with this guy is what he wants the $20,000 for - an HD camera (fair, although he may get a standard commercial camera instead of one made for stop motion), materials to set up a home studio with proper staging and lighting equipment (fair), and a forum so people can tell him what to make. He thinks that with this collaborative process, where he makes the videos but he lets other people come up with actual ideas, he'll end up producing entire shows on par with Robot Chicken. He expects to make enough money to take care of his family by doing this. And of course, he claims there are absolutely zero risks.

That Gridiron Thunder game looks terrible, and it's a shame, because I really feel like there needs to be an arcade style football game out on the market. Blitz was awesome back in the day, Madden is a boring to me. That being said, that game seriously looks like poo poo, complete poo poo, I can't believe they've reached their goal. They even look like they have some NFL players on board.

See, OUYA is running a promotion where if you kickstart a game and make it a 6-month exclusive for OUYA, they will match whatever funds you pull in. The top grossing game will receive an additional $100k. So it stands to reason that they managed to pledge $75k to their own project (look at the number of backers and the tiers list) in the hopes of scamming OUYA. Of course, OUYA being OUYA, it's doubtful that they'd even pay out the supposed bonuses in the first place, even if they did see through the blatant scam. In conclusion, I hope they make enough from legitimate backers to offset Kickstarter's cut of the total.

I did, but it's really the manga tie-in with the new GITS anime, since it's not actually written or drawn by Masamune Shirow. Who should be in this list, just avoid the stuff that he started to do once he got his Mac and/or past 2000 or so. Talk about a guy who traded his birthright for a pound of flesh and entered into the "creepy Heinlein" phase of his career. Berserk is also probably one of the best of this hyper-detailed manga, especially the later volumes when Muira's figures don't look that stuff. Lots of cross-stitching that makes the comic look like it came from a wood block print. And the gory fight scenes are so over the top, with the main character literally cutting through formations of dudes in full plate mail with a single sword swipe, like someone needed to be show what an example of the D&D feat "Cleave" would look like. However, there's some squicky sexual violence thrown in, so word of warning. The only thing I can really say about that is that it's at least equal opportunity.

I didn't know what MegaTokyo was until my Aunt (who is a seamstress) sent me some weird hats saying she was commissioned to do the design based on something from an online comic. She designed this as a physical hat and did up the patterns so they could be mass produced: http://www.megagear.com/SadKittyEarHat_p/mt%2003-3003.htm I have a bunch of them in different colors somewhere, all her test models. That is the extent of my exposure to MegaTokyo.

If I'm not mistaken, Fred stopped inking his comic pages years ago purely due to laziness and simply excused crappy penciled updates as part of his "style".
