https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqGQyMF5a_0 Anyone else remember Street Sharks? It was created in a secret government lab to have the most badass concept to kids. I always hated how the main character's name, Ripster, really didn't roll off the tongue well.

I'm watching the internet one and it's funny how right they were about the internet booming and evolving, and the bizarre concepts of the day like "internet years." It's also neat seeing internet giants of today back when they were start-ups in debt.

Duckboat posted:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqGQyMF5a_0 Yeah, there was Street Sharks, Biker Mice From Mars and TMNT. That was the trifecta. I mean, I suppose there were others but those three were the main ones. I didn't actaully see Street Sharks on TV very much but I got a picture book that adapted an episode at a school car boot sale many years ago (adapting the one where the Sharks' friend is transformed into an anthropomorphic killer whale by their enemy and assumes the name "Moby Lick" because he has a freakishly large tongue).

There was also Road Rovers, but the less said about that one, the better.

Dis posted:Solar Winds haunts me and I can't really explain why. My brother and I convinced our parents to buy it for us out the shareware rack at a Faye's drug store. What I remember about it can be broken down into the following list: I played the crap out of the shareware, to the point where I could complete it without getting hit a single time. I was obsessed with it at the time as it seemed like a cool story-driven game with a massive universe to explore, due to the multiple dialogue branches and that 20 minute expedition you take at that one point. I discovered a pair of planets enroute one day and they gave me extra energy and a weapon or something, which reinforced my need to explore more. A year or two ago I managed to track down both the full version of it and its sequel, which plays exactly the same, but I lost both the skill and patience to get more than 10 minutes into either. Also the combat is really dull, I have no idea how I was actually good at it.

Have these monstrosities been mentioned yet ? And pencil-toppers in general ? Also, doodle bears: E: Oh, and these: You had to have one with every single one of your friends, so you ended up with a million of the bloody things. Because I am somehow compelled to throw money at everything vaguely Neil Gaiman-related, I shelled out for a stack of "The Dreaming" comics from a thrift shop yesterday. The comic doesn't seem to be anything special, but the ads are all for long-forgotten video games, BMG music club, and terrible movies, and are kind of amazing. If anyone's interested, I can probably get them scanned in the next couple days.

I would be very interested, and in fact that makes me want to start stockpiling 90's comics just to scan the ads.

I think I got it because I was subscribed to Nintendo Power or something. It was all about the new upcoming N64 game, "Banjo Kazooie," and it was narrated by Jon Lovitz. It had a profile of all the levels and I probably watched that stupid thing 100 times, even long after I had already bought the game. It also had a preview for a Conker game that was NOT Bad Fur Day, more of an all-ages adventure game. I wonder if I still have that...
