I just received a tweet from the creators of a project encouraging me to support them because "I notice you back a lot of good creative things on Kickstarter" I can't quite tell if it's a joke or not, the video has an MS-paint style intro and features an aging man in a dreary British living room talking/reading in a monotone about his plans for a movie/TV show project that will be a lot like a modern Laurel and Hardy but featuring two "cool young dudes" (a phrase the guy in the video seems to particularly struggle with). The creative team seems very odd (there's a random journalist and the video guy doing translation as best I can tell) and the number one risk they identify in their FAQ is piracy which is why they're unable to share any further information about the content of the film beyond a curious drawn pencil sketch. Though they do promise it'll be hilarious, have catch-phrases and feature a philosophical child who appears out of nowhere to make observations. Part of me would like to see the madness they plan on creating but at £30 (about $50) for a digital download and £75 (approximately $120) for a DVD (albeit signed) it's probably not worth it. The majority of their pitch seems to be a business idea (for a mere £5,000 you can get a cut of the gross!) and they've already got vague plans for merchandise and suchlike: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1151870960/jack-and-mack *EDIT* I replied to their tweet saying I'd keep an eye on it but £75 for a DVD seemed a bit steep and received a plea for support and a promise that they'd let me write their first update if I kicked in some money. *EDIT2* ...and they've now tweeted me offering a £20 discount on the DVD bringing it to a much more reasonable £55 (about $90). Are kickstarters allowed to negotiate prices via twitter? *EDIT3* ...and their twitter account has been suspended (presumably for spam?) Jeremys Iron has a new favorite as of 14:48 on Sep 20, 2013 |

I suspect you mean to say that he wasn't using either arm to hang on, though.

If you're trying to Kickstarter a series about two funny comedy dudes, it might, you know, help to actually HAVE two funny comedy dudes. Maybe that's just me, though?

Not the you you but the general you.

I have so many AWESOME ideas for games and movies and things like that but programming and doing work is boring and takes too long! They need to hurry up and make a computer that let's me just sit there and think of cool ideas and it just automatically programs and illustrates and animated my awesome thoughts and maybe even 3d prints the tshirts. This would definitely be my full time job and I say job because if I'm going to share so much of myself with the world I better get paid for it. Since that doesn't exist yet though, you'll have to settle for this black and white drawing of my awesome idea and kind of fill in the blanks yourself about how awesome it will be.

But I guess someone's into that and is probably going to back it, huh.

I don't mean that it's bad exclusively because of the style, but the style just adds to the terrible majesty of it all. In this case, "manga style" is like the saffron on the rice dish of suck. It doesn't define the shittiness of the drawing, but it adds a certain little something extra that takes it to the next level. It's the difference between "this is a sexy drawing of my idealized self" and "this is a sexy drawing of my idealized self that is also a horse." Also, keep in mind that I'm referring to "manga style" in the crappy catch-all no talent DeviantArt sense. Obviously, there are tons of extremely talented and innovative manga artists out there, but those aren't the ones I'm talking about.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/844250995/centerpiece-small-box-holds-a-full-sized-board-gamquote:To play simply learn to drop the dice off the box, and keep them on the game-board. The very first corner space states, Divide Your Game Parts. What made that work, are five No/Rest circles added to select spaces. They take away the choice, of which game-piece to move. Before I adding those circles, catch-22's would happen. A different space states, Exchange Your Bank of Feathers. It allows a player to come from behind at anytime I'm sold.
