Look at how profound I am; a veritable half-Buddha, half Jesus, half Kierkegaard. I even copyrighted the term "LOLAism", because I'm that goddamn deep. The movie has yet to be released, but I can already say that I liked the book better. Bizzler.com belongs to my favorite type of crowdfunding campaigns, namely for services that address problems that don't exist. If I'm a big company that sells car insurance and I want everyone to know my product is the cheapest, I'll find someone to make me a commercial in which a bright green CGI cricket sings about my low monthly rates. If I want the ad to also be funny or clever, I'll hire people who can make funny or clever advertisements. They're not that difficult to find. What I don't do is write out a competition on a third party website where every random Joe can enter a camcorder-made submission, and hope for the best that one of the contributions is exactly what I was looking for.

The pitch for bRight Switch starts with a daring what-if situation.IndieGoGo posted:What if the walls in our homes were graced with gently glowing, color matched smart devices rather than switches that have been around for 50 years? Yes, these people intend to replace the humble light switch with something far more cumbersome and needlessly complex. Why would I want to map multiple outlets to the same switch? Why would I want my house to learn when to activate or shut off the lights in different rooms of the house? My phone comes with its own charger, what's the benefit of a dedicated built-in phone charger? Some things don't need to become smart devices. Light switches and power outlets are a few good examples. PeardUp.com is essentially a digital school environment (think BlackBoard) that's open for registration to the general public, but dressed up in tons of meaningless buzzwords. And puns. Lots and lots of terrible pear-related puns. Various people on their team seem to think that this idea is unique, but I swear I've seen at least two crowdfunding campaigns for the same thing on IGG alone. I can't help but wonder what these people have in place to weed out 'mentors' who plan to give nothing but horrible advice, simply because they can.

I don't really agree with you wholesale (I really like the Nest thermostat, but that's arguably because every digital thermostat I've ever used has been a colossal bitch to set and program, and outlets/surge protectors with built-in USB plugs for phone/tablet/whatever charging are the bee's knees) but this just looks like a me-tooism that also happens to make things horribly complicated for the sake of "simplicity." Never mind that practically every home tech company under the sun has come out with or demoed at least some version of this basic idea over the last 3 years- except that they've all been smart enough to base it around some kind of smartphone/tablet control software (where it arguably makes some sense) instead of a much more cumbersome and much much more expensive hardware setup. It's basically the difference between putting an aux port in your car's radio and developing your own proprietary system for playing mp3s.

Because let's be honest, if you forget to turn your lights off before you head to bed, it'd be really drat cool to just shut it off from your phone. Ayn Rand believed being selfish is a virtue and that altruism is bad. Of course her adherents beg for money on the internet instead of bootstrapping their way to riches so they can fund this movie themselves. Craig needs your help to make this HTML5 belt buckle a reality. I can imagine someone buying and wearing a piece of pop-culture related merchandise because said person is a fan. But a belt buckle for a markup language? Is HTML5 really that popular of a tool?

Oh, and and every player also brings his own stun gun to the field which he can use to stun whichever person is currently holding the ball.
