I'd do the Sparks Liner High END first and then the True End, but yes, for the latter at least you're actually looking at a philosophical discussion and the closing of multiple character plot threads - it's a lot of content sporadically mentioned throughout the route, and finally addressed as the world lies in the precipice of oblivion.

And as I said, this is all before the actual epilogue.

Uminenko Chapter 5. Was surprised to hear that there was another person had drifted on the island but I guess it's just Bernkastel inserting herself in the story. She really didn't put much thought into the alias she would use. Heh, Furudo Erika.

Hmm, so in game Beatrice and the one out of the game are 2 different beings? I always thought that it was the same Beatrice going into the game or something like that.

Also since Bernkastel declared that this particular was just Natsuhi's delusion so how does she know about the game that's being played.

More and more questions piling up.

Edit: Heh, Bernkastel made her character as Mary Sue as possible.

You've probably already come to understand this by now, but EP5 and beyond deal with the concept of treating the game world as if it were truly a game with players at a higher metaphysical level setting up the mysteries/murders. In EP1-EP4 Beatrice was the game master, but that is no longer the case in EP5. Yet even when Beato was the GM in the first four chapters she still needed a "real" instance of Beatrice on the board; after all, she is claiming a witch is responsible for all of the murders. You could say that this particular instance of Beatrice represents more than that, perhaps even some direct or indirect representation of the true human culprits if they exist. It's just that with EP1-EP4, with Beato as Game Master the two instances are more or less synonymous. In EP5 Lambdadelta still needs something to represent Beatrice, even though Meta-Beatrice is out of commission so to speak. That made a lot more sense in my head, at least.

Don't like it? well...

To put it in simpler terms the game board Beatrice made, naturally, includes a piece called "Beatrice". So when Lamdadelta took over she was able to put the piece on the board even though the player Beatrice is sitting out.

Someone talked about Kimi to Kanojo to Kanojo no Koi, or Totono earlier in this thread. I decided to play it, but by the time I got to actually playing the game, I had forgotten what it was about.

So I jump in, not knowing what to expect. The art style is pleasant enough and things seem interesting. Aoi keeps on talking about things like how the world is a game, she's trying to call God, and that she wants to save the game and things like that. I'm not really sure if she's supposed to be funny or if she actually knows something other characters don't.

After a few hours I get pretty fed up with nothing particularly interesting going on except the side character (Yuutarou?)'s escapades in A MAN'S ROMANCE. In any case I continue. Things are progressing smoothly, everyone's friends with each other and they're walking home from school. Miyuki goes to pick up something she forgot. An uncomfortable moment occurs when Aoi starts acting (more) weird and talking like a character from a nukige. No Aoi don't talk about things like that you're creeping me out. There's something really wrong with this girl. Game goes on, Yuutarou still seems like the most interesting character when suddenly Aoi is up on the roof again and goes full meta and then tries to call God once more.

The sky turns red and the winds blow stronger. I don't like this at all so I stop her from calling. Bad end. Main character becomes a sad man with a part-time job while Miyuki's an actress. I reload and don't stop Aoi.

God picks up. The world is "updated" and the game zooms out to show that it was, actually, a phone game all along...or something? Either way, I get what seems to be an intro video in what I assumed was more than halfway in.

Did I just finish the prologue? I'm confused. Maybe it's because I'm still a slow reader that it seemed really long for one.

Don't want to take away the spotlight, but here's my current reaction to Umineko Ep 8:

So the game suddenly turned into Metal Gear Solid, as we are talking about child soldiers from out of nowhere.

I can kinda see where Battler and Beatrice are trying to say, and I'm not sure I really like it...

But nevermind that, QUIZ TIME! And gently caress these quizzes, why am I so bad at them. And good thing I have google to know the Japanese ambulance numbers and the periodic table...
By the way, does it matter which cake slice I pick?

The mini Berncastel Mystery game was much more interesting. I feel proud figuring it out by using only half of the hints (even if the last couple was about randomly trying out parent-child combos. I really thought Maria will be the culprit there.)

And now I have to ask, did Ryukishi read messageboards in between releasing episodes? Because many times it seems like he is answering to fan reactions or he is just really good at figuring out what people will think.
The real question is, was the "culprit Battler" theory popular back in the day on the internet too?

And... HOLY poo poo IT'S ERIKA!! I never thought I would miss seeing her! :haw:

Actually, yep. Originally (EP4)Kinzo being dead all along was going to be a twist in EP5, but so many people had figured it out online that he moved it up. That's the one I distinctly remember but I'm sure there were others as well.

Sadly it seems the polls are no longer up on 07th Expansion's site, but I seem to remember he ranked fairly high in each EP's "Who's the culprit?" poll.

Uminenko Chapter 5
So not only can Erika leave the game world and enter the meta world but she can use the red text in the game world? Didn't the demon Butler just say that the red text has no effect on the human world? Heh, I feel like I need an official rule book here.

Must say it's about time some of the cousins died before there parents. We never had a world like that yet so I wanted so see their reaction. Too bad Rosa died. Her and Maria's relationship is one of the most interesting part of the game. I swear she goes back and forth in showing Maria love and outright despising her. Would have liked to see her reaction to her death. Maybe one of the next chapters.

Edit: This game sure is getting complicated. You have Bernkastel and her piece, Lambdadelta being the gamemaster and piece Beatrice has her own agenda.

Edit2: The human detective on the human side just summoned underlings. And now we're having a blue truth versus red truth INSIDE the game :psyduck:

Edit3: Now the Battler & Erika game pieces are talking to people on 2 different levels and Battler is using blue truth. I don't even know what level people are speaking on anymore. Erika just said something and Beatrice, Nanjo and Kumasawa all replied. :psypop:

Oh and now piece Battler is aware that this is a game. This game is as metaphorical as gently caress.

And this scene ends the only way it could have. With Lamdlabelta & Erika who participated in two levels in the game, on the third level stewing over the defeat.

And some bad news - Aoi is not done making you feel uncomfortable. Her route is, unfortunately, not very good. Necessary, yes, but not good.

You've probably noticed at this point that Chiru's less about the 'how's of the game and more about the 'why's.
Naturally, there's a bit of a breakdown in the rules considering nobody playing right now actually cares about the real point of the game anyway. Hence 'scribbling on the chessboard'.

Umineko EP 3: Wow the old lady being the former Beatrice was the first time I was really caught off guard, well except for the first set of murders. The music that played during old Beatrice and Beatrice's fight was fantastic, more so then the rest of the new music here.

Uminenko Chapter 5 hmm, knock-gate. This is a pretty tough brainteaser. So at 24:00 no one outside the mansion could have made the knock and no one inside the parlor made the knocking sound, might have been said in red I forgot. But what has definitely been said in red is that Genji, Natsuhi or Krauss did not make the knocking sound. I have 2 theories. 1 plausible and one as out there as Battler's tiny bomb theory.

The one I think is more likely is simply that the clock was wrong. Not sure if it was faked or just unintentionally off. So when it made the gong it was either past 24:00 or before it before it. I went back in reread the scene and the little clock in the corner was at 11:48 so the entire scene before the knock would have had to taken place in 12 minutes. Seems unlikely. In that time Krauss and Natsuhi made a decision to leave and have a pep talk, Kanon & Shannon enter the parlor and become the topic of conversation which made it sound like it would be longer than it would have taken for it to fit in that time frame.

The one less likely is simple, Carrier Pigeon. Yeah, I doubt this has any chance of being right but it's not the dumbest theory and of the characters proposed.

Edit: Wait....does 24:00 even exist? Wouldn't it go back to 00:00?

Edit2: Ha, Erika losing it is great! She must have sounded incredibly insane for the pieces not aware of the higher level.

Edit3: Beatrice- "~the red truth doesn't exist in the human world!"

That's kind of a weird thought isn't it?
I finished Fate the other day. Overall I liked it, despite Saber being really boring. There were a few things that bugged me though, things such as Rider's identity, Assassin and Caster's master, Caster herself being kind of introduced and offed way too quickly, Lancer being underutilized(oh, and his original master), EVERYTHING about Archer(Rin's). Also Ilya was kinda backstaged despite being the Holy Grail's vessel, figured she'd be a lot more central on that fact alone. Whatever though her being basically the star of the Tiger Dojo is great by itself. Oh, and overall the route definitely felt like its purpose was character building, which isn't a bad thing mind you. I imagine some if not all of these are addressed and expanded upon with the other two routes. :v:

Not far into UBW. Basically The end of the 4th day where Taiga and Sakura stay with Shirou as well, but keeping Saber in their room. It's kind of funny how things changed so much by the simple fact that Archer didn't get chopped by Saber. I can only imagine things will only escalate from here~
