As stupid as it is, you have to admit: the 2013 Patriots, with the receiving corps they have, being the Patriot team that actually does go 18-0 would be the funniest thing.

I posted about it back in April, but I think my favorite Case Keenum-related "horrible thing" is from a caller on Sports 610. This Cougars homer calls in and starts talking about how great Case is and asks when the Texans are going to give him a chance and that he should be the backup (with the clear insinuation that he also wanted him to challenge for the starter spot), basically sounding like the president of the Case Keenum Fanclub Home Branch or a blood relative... and then he asks what round Case was drafted in and HAD TO BE TOLD HE WAS A UDFA. How do you not know that if it sounds like you spank it to Keenum's U of H highlight reels? :psyduck: AND YOU WANT TO TELL AN NFL TEAM WHAT TO DO WITH THEIR PERSONNEL?

And then he said "Now the Texans have a REAL passing quarterback."

He's by no means an elite QB, but he's far from as horrible as a lot of people make him out to be. Most of these people didn't watch the Texans for the first few years of their existence, so they have no idea how bad this team can look.

I hate to say it, but yeah I get a strong bandwagon vibe from a lot of the angriest people this time around, like the guy that burned the Schaub jersey in the parking lot after the game. It's as though at some point in the last couple of years a fraction of the fanbase were like "Oh hey, the Texans are finally decent guess it's time to pay attention and be a huge douche about it."

I think I made a crack somewhere in TFF about all the immaculate, brand spanking new J.J. Watt jerseys flooding the area, and I guess we're starting to hear from their owners now.

Everything they say about football is wrong. Football players don’t commit suicide at elevated levels, die younger than their peers, or suffer disproportionately from heart disease. In fact, professional players live longer, healthier lives than American men in general.

MMQB today:

quote:

Last night, the attorney for the team, Lanny Davis, was strident to me in saying people were taking the president’s statement too far—and he’s right. “What is a sizable group?’’ he said. “In 2004, the only sampling of Native Americans [on this issue] was taken in an Annenberg Poll. Nine of 10 said they were not offended by the nickname. We respect anyone who is offended, but it is not a reason to change our name. When we sing ‘Hail to the Redskins,’ it is not an attempt to dishonor anyone.’’ I asked Davis if it was fair to characterize Snyder as resolute that he would not change the name. “I’d say the team is resolute, he is resolute, 95 percent of our fans are resolute and 90 percent of Native Americans are resolute,’’ he said. NFL owners meet in Washington Tuesday, and the Oneida Indian Nation has scheduled a symposium at the same hotel to discuss why the name “Redskins” is offensive to Native Americans.

Well there you have it. A poll of 768 people conducted a decade ago certainly clarifies the issue.

And here's how the question was asked in the poll:

“The professional football team in Washington calls itself the Washington Redskins. As a Native American, do you find that name offensive or doesn’t it bother you?

A very thorough and well conducted survey that obviously represents the opinion of native Americans.

The question is still dumb as poo poo. Also I am curious how they determined who was an American Indian. It said they polled people who identified as American Indian, but does that actually mean a reservation living Native, or are they also including white people who "have an Indian grandmother or something."
