I really wanted to see them because , well, World Downfall is the definition of a classic, and Pete Sandoval is an absolute machine behind the kit. Then I saw this: The gently caress. I'll wait until the Morbid Angel tour where they're playing Covenant in it's entirety.

Morbid Angel should be playing "I Am Morbid" and "Radikult" and if people don't like it, too loving bad. It's a given that they'll play a lot of stuff from their first four, but I'd rather hear the most ridiculous tracks rather than Thor's take on Morbid Angel, not that it's bad, but with 15 other similar songs that are all better I'd like to be serenades by David Vincent's egotistical masterpieces.

So Impaled just released a re-recorded (not remastered) version of their debut album The Dead Shall Dead Remain, aptly named The Dead Still Dead Remain. The original is good but suffers from bad mixing so I'm pumped about this.

Are there any rerecordings that are significant improvements on the original? There's the terrible Dark Quarterer XXV, and I don't think I've heard much good about that rerecording of Bonded by Blood Exodus did.

All I know is that the two Amazon reviews for Dead Still Dead Remain use words like "clear," "clean," "tight," and "professional" -- none of which I really look for in an Impaled album, especially that awesome debut. The new Zemial is colossal. Also ripping, cosmically melodramatic, psychedelic, epic, and huge. Crikey. It won't knock Gorguts off my year-end perch but it could very well come in second. http://hellsheadbangers.bandcamp.com/album/nykta

The whole album is up with Impaled's famous "pirate chatter" throughout: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqWlEiAOkZY I wouldn't necessarily call it clean, but you can hear the bass quite well. I haven't been listening to much in the way of newer metal bands for a while now, if I ever felt the need for something angry or fast I'd go to punk or just old Pantera and Slayer material. I've been feeling an absence is my life though lately, and hearing Toxic Holocaust definitely reminded me what I loved about thrash.

I think HIE/Sleep Inn is still the best location, but I can't find any deals. It's like $175 at the HIE and $200 at the sleep inn unless you pay for a non refundable right now . I really don't want to tie up $700-$800 till May.
