http://www.deadline.com/2013/11/comedy-centrals-midnight-gets-40-week-pickup/ 40 week pickup. That's a year, basically. 12 weeks off, similar to TDS/Colbert.

"You think it's an alien, but the twist is it's a dog with a burning erection" is probably the funniest thing I've heard in this entire show's run.

I was avoiding this show like the plague, because of my hate for Chris Hardwick. Sure, some of the video series on the Nerdist channel are pretty good (Cops: Skyrim, and the Real World: Whiterun), but I can never un-watch Talking Bad/Dead/whatever and my hate for Hardwick is solely based on those shows. Tonight, I accidently left Comedy Central on after Colbert, and found myself actually enjoying this. I have less disdain for Hardwick after that "dog with a burning erection" line. Also, Doug Benson is hilarious. I'm glad it got picked up because I want to see more. I can't say the same for that abortion that is Adam Devine's House Party. Stop wasting time with that bullshit and make more Workaholics, damnit.

I hope that starting next season they give Chris a scoreboard, just for the random times he gets points for nailing a joke. It happened twice this season. Would really reinforce the "points don't matter" aesthetic of the show.

The last episode with David Spade I had to quit early but it did leave me with a burning hunger for some blood pudding. Contrary to popular opinion that stuff is absolutely delicious and a good source of iron! ...since it's just essentially pigs blood mixed with spices and beer into a paste that you fry as slices on the grill.

I just started watching last night's episode and I'm currently imagining Doug Benson with Tom Lennon's mustache. It's pretty hilarious. e: no new episodes until Jan 6 sucks, but a 40 episode pick up is pretty awesome. I'm glad a show I like is successful for once! I'm hoping that one week Doug hosts the episode so Chris can be one of the guests, would be fun to see them in a role reversal (or Tom Lennon, PFT perhaps).

If you are a twitter person, @midnight is playing some of their games during the hiatus (like Kesha or Truck Stop Restroom) on twitter. If they like it they shout POINTS at you.

Mike Lawrence (I think he was on the show, he's The Ginger-Beard Man) has a great bit on his CC half-hour where he's talking negatively about Ke$ha, (I'll just repeat the entire bit because I had to look it up just now: "Las Vegas is Ke$ha, because they're both covered in glitter and cum) the audience groans in disapproval, and he goes "OH NO, NOT KEH DOLLAR SIGN HA! SHE'S SO INNOCENT!"

I've generally stayed away from all the Soup-esque shows like this but finally gave this a shot and ended up watching all 16 shows one after the other. As soon as Doug Benson goes "you just showed us which one it was!" I was hooked. loving hilarious show. The show might be funnier if they were just completely faking it with pre-written script jokes but overall I'm glad they don't because it's so much funnier seeing some of the jokes totally bomb. Uhhhhh, a lot of it is edited, which is why you often see the scores jumping around. It's taped earlier in the day like Daily Show and Colbert Report. I'm sure there is some preparation. Also, so glad Mike Lawrence is back. He was my favorite guest from the first 16 episodes. Him, Ron Funches, or PFT.

Man, I can't wait for tonight. I loves me some stand-up comedy, even/especially the kind of stuff @midnight showcases: Silly crap that MAINLY makes Chris Hardwick and his personal friends from the stand-up scene laugh.

Chris Hardwick lost his dad in between seasons. I remember being really happy that the show was renewed, and then found out his father had died only a few days later.
