New Shinies. Vullaby took me a while, but Sneasel followed right after. I'm kinda sour that I can't really use Vullaby. Foul Play is a tutor move only and Roost is an egg move. Same with Sneasel, a lot of attacks aren't accessible.

GoGoGadgetChris posted:That's a shame that shiny Sneasel looks so awesome has no good moves at all... Well, I probably was exaggerating a bit. It still gets Ice Shard and Night Slash, two very essential moves. I would have loved it knowing Knock Off, though. Emong posted:Roost is a TM now, at least. Oh yeah, it is! Thank god. It has a lax nature and I can't make it the Aegislash-killer I want it to be, but at least I can run a standard Toxic set. How many shinies do you guys have accumulated so far? I got 10, 1 in the wild at random, 4 during chain fishing and 5 in the friend safari.

Haven't played competitively (actually not at all) since over a year and a half ago and planning to hit Showdown while gen 6 is still fresh but not too new. Did it end becoming an ultraoffensive mess or are thing like dual screen offense still viable?horriblePencilist posted:
This is why isn't really worth it doing things for older pokemon in a new generation in the first pair of games without transferring from an older gen. I still wonder why no pokebank until December, as well

But yeah, you can totally pull off support characters. A lot of people underestimate how bulky some Mons can get, and if you have a bulky dual screener like Audino, it's easy to stay alive unless you run facefirst into an SE attack. As for the second thing, I haven't played Pokemon since Leaf Green, so I don't really have the resources of the older games available. I'm sure X and Y will get a move tutor in one way or another, but should it not come to that (which would suck and be a huge blow to folks like me), I'd probably ask someone trustworthy to transfer my mons, move them to B/W and move tutor them up. You'd do that for me, right? Right?

X/Y is actually really lacking in Move Tutors. The only moves tutorable right now are the Pledge moves, the typed Hyper Beams, and Draco Meteor. I'm sure that's something else they're holding onto until Z.

This annoys me a lot since some old pokemon really need their move tutor stuff. I breed a special attack Whiscash and he's not nearly as effective as he could be since he doesn't have access to a good special ground move. His best one, Earth Power, is tutor exclusive.

Because I saw something fetish related for almost every pokemon I looked at. That said this line of discussion is making me hate the internet so I'll stop thinking about it now. She's solid NU material, but she has some stuff going for her. Access to Leech Seed, Ingrain, Giga Drain and Water Absorb give it good survivability (although it has poor defenses), and access to Spikes is always nice. Storm Drain make her a good double partner, and if you can predict a Water-attack, you can get a free attack boost. However, her thin defenses and low speed (unless you have a sun-team) force her to be utility and support at best. I really wish she was good, one of my favorite Pokemon.

Internet Kraken posted:...so how about Maractus? Is that pokemon good for anything practical? Want to make my own cool little dancing cactus dude but he seems kind of terrible. It has pretty neat abilities but as a Chlorophyll sweeper it is generally less impressive than Venusaur. It's a pretty cool sunnybeamer and it gets cotton guard (+3 defense stages whoo), meaning you could do some silly wall gimmick along with leech seed with it and sucker punch can catch people off guard.

It's mostly for setting then up once and then be able to set up a sweeper with more ease.

Those base stats seem off though. There's no Mew analog, with 100 in each base stat. Unless they're planning to have a bunch of Mew events to just add to the RBY throwbacks it seems a bit odd.
