Germ posted:Very nicely stated, JackMann. Agreed. People tend to look at copyright and trademark situations as "Look what those assholes at Company X did to these little guys! What a bunch of douchebags!" They don't realize that if a company is not actively protecting their IP, they stand a very high risk of losing it and the protection that a customer gets with that mark.

It requires quite a bit more than simply not pursuing every single unauthorized use of a trademark to lose it - it is far more common to lose a trademark to genericide, like Kleenex or or zipper, rather than pervasive unathorized use of a non-abandoned trademark. Is there any way of restricting kickstarters to a region? If Gamezone's Spanish trademark is legitimate, there should be nothing preventing them from marketing their game and selling it in Spain, although I'll admit I'm not an expert on international trademark disputes at all.

I don't think you can run a kickstarter from Spain.

The campaign was so wildly crafted to skirt around US law that any US court that wound up with the case would obviously see through the charade (and its also easy to find jurisdiction)

Plus given all the assorted EU trade agreements the odds of it flying despite them only having the license in Spain were close to nil; they clearly intended on selling it to other countries where they didn't have the rights.

So, FedEx tried to deliver my Deadzone stuff to the wrong address, now I have to go to the distribution site to pick it up in an hour or so. However I got my Basius, and Happy Seppuku baseing imprint molds last week, and took some pictures! Basius, I was kinda surprised that they cast them in straight up resin, its kinda nice though as they shouldn't ever wear out. Happy Seppuku, lots of detail, I look forward to testing them out. Between the two sets I should never have to buy another pre-detailed base again.

Those Happy Seppuku ones look much better in their finished form, I hope you post how they turn out.

My Basius stuff arrived about 5 minutes ago, and it all seems pretty good. Looks like you have all the ones I do bar wooden decking, and a few more I don't have. Between Solaco Aftermath, Baker Street Infinity AD, Mountains, Wooden decking and Baker Street 1825 AD I think I've got all my bases covered

Deadzone has arrived! Fresh from the box and un-organized Sorted Note that these have only been addons. and now the contents of one of the base boxes. All-in-all not too bad, though I am missing 13 of the terrain sprues, and I haven't gone through the bags of figures yet.

Argent: The Consortium, which is being published by the people who made BattleCON: Devastation of Indines, put out a preview rulebook for their game. Unfortunately, it is one of those games that mostly relies on variant powers and whatnot, so it's hard to gauge whether the game is any good, but early buzz from BGGCon has been positive. But so is most things from BGG, so it's hard to tell whether it is actually any good.

Costume Fairy Adventures is down to its final hours. It's funded, but still about $1,000 from its goon-penned first stretch goal. Ewen Cluney! He writes cute stuff! Also, this section of the most recent Ryuutama update made me smile: quote:Okada/Cafe Daydream lamented that they wish they had better music to play over the speakers (they usually cycle instrumental versions of Greensleeves) over the cafe speakers on Western Gaming Nights It is a catchy song.

People are saying that "you can just sand the decks down and remove that" but I shouldn't have to do that for the price I paid for the KS. I guess I could count myself lucky that I wasn't one of the many who received a damaged set due to poor packaging.
