Bullshit. If that were the case we would've had Snowden this year (or at least "The NSA") and Osama Bin Laden in 2001.

They actually were going to choose Bin Laden for 2001. They didn't because there's a second important criteria for the person of the year and thats "Money". They chose Giuliani because nobody would have bought a magazine declaring Bin Laden person of the year.

The fact that there exist media outlets reporting news other than their daily talking points is media bias by their definition. When my local radio clowns share the day's talking points with the listener, like it's some kind of inside scoop and definitely not the same thing Rush, Hannity, and Levin are saying in a different timeslot, they always preface it by saying that the mainstream media isn't covering it. And it's entirely true, because the 'mainstream media' consists of lots of unrelated organizations that don't receive the daily RNC talking points. The existence of any news at all other than their talking points is an example of bias.

What's more annoying than anything is that the conservative shittrain IS the mainstream media. They are at once the most popular and widespread line of information and also underground revolutionaries fighting the good fight against tyranny and oppression. It's cowboys and Indians for old white people. They rail against actual dissidents and propagate the establishment as much as possible while they glorify the concept of political dissidence and hero worship imaginary freedom fighters like Rush Limbaugh and Ted Cruz.

It's exasperating how oblivious conservatives are to it because it's so transparent that the only way they could fall for it would be to choose to remain willfully ignorant.

Use the anger. Use it.
Looks like the patriotic Tea Partiers are going to build a narrative against Boehner over the budget deal. Drudge was earlier displaying a prominent link to a National Journal article that is pretty funny

quote:

House Speaker John Boehner went off on outside conservative groups Wednesday morning for pushing against the new budget deal.

"They're using our members and they're using the American people for their own goals," he said. "This is ridiculous."

Several key conservative groups are against the sequester relief within the new budget deal.

"Though conservatives support more spending restraint, the discretionary spending limits defined in the Budget Control Act represent a promise to the American people to marginally slow the growth of government," reads a letter signed by the heads of Heritage Action, the Family Research Council, and the American Conservative Union. Heritage Action's Michael Needham penned an op-ed in USA Today on Tuesday calling the deal "a step backward." The Cato Institute called the deal a "huge Republican cave-in."

Dan Holler, the communications director at Heritage Action, responded to Boehner's comments Wednesday morning:

quote:

Americans are deeply concerned about the direction of the country. Over the next few days, lawmakers will have to explain to their constituents, many of whom are our members, what they've achieved by increasing spending, increasing taxes and offering up another round of promises waiting to be broken. That will be a really tough sell back home. Meanwhile, we'll continue fighting to achieve our goal, which is create an America where freedom, opportunity, prosperity and civil society flourish.
Rep. Paul Ryan also addressed his conservative critics Wednesday, calling the attacks from the right "a strange new normal." Ryan, for his part, is doing everything he can to remind his critics that he's a conservative.

Boehner has a tough path ahead of him as he tries to get this deal passed with Republican support. But, so far, he's making it clear that he won't go down easy.
This Onion article is pretty spot-on.

Yes, he specifically said that trickle down economics is bullshit, which conservatives quickly retconned into being a mis-translation of "trickle-down" because the Pope could never betray Saint Ronnie :qq:

If you have any interest at all in the Great Selfie Scandal of 2013, you owe it to yourself to read Andrea Peyser's column on the subject. Have just a taste:

quote:

In front of 91 world leaders, the mourning nation of South Africa and Obama’s clearly furious wife, Michelle, the president flirted, giggled, whispered like a recalcitrant child and made a drat fool of himself at first sight of Denmark’s voluptuously curvy and married prime minister, Helle Thorning-Schmidt.

Not to be outdone by the president’s bad behavior, the Danish hellcat hiked up her skirt to expose long Scandinavian legs covered by nothing more substantial than sheer black stockings.

Diptheria presents as a large neck swelling called a bull neck, which is due to inflammation to the bacteria colonizing the throat and producing toxins that cause damage to the heart and brain. Cases are basically unheard of now in the US due to vaccination, and the diphtheria toxin is used as a protein conjugate to produce other vaccines and ensure a strong immune response.

Haemophilus influenza type B caused many cases of bacterial meningitis, and more famously, epiglottitis. This kid looks okay in the image, but the flap covering her windpipe is so swollen that if she begins to cry or her throat is irritated that she will not be able to breath and could rapidly suffocate. It's now extremely uncommon for either of these presentations due to vaccination.

Measles and rubella cause a similar rash and high fever, which can cause febrile seizures. Measles can have complications like subacute sclerosing panencephalitis years after the initial infection, and this manifests as a profound mental decline and death. Most doctors have not seen a case due to vaccination, but that's changing recently.
