I like that. The explanation could just be they're not really dissimilar from humans or whatever on the inside, but they formed their crazy rock skins through natural evolution because their home planet is some kind of hellscape where life somehow took hold. You could have lines from Florans about how they love it when you crack open a rockman to get to the juicy center.

Probably only two people care about this, but here's exactly why fast projectiles are bugged:

code:

there's a certain amount of pixels a projectile is allowed to go (100 in horizontal/vertical) 
and the game distributes what's resolved first (horizontal) and then the angle is calculated. instead of realizing the maximum speed

for example, if a 200 speed projectile is aimed at a 30 degree angle,

the game calculates (sqrt(3) / 2) * 200 for horizontal which is speed value 173
(read up on your right triangles to see why this is)

the game engine truncates that to 100 because that's the horizontal speed limit.

the game then calculates (1 / 2) * 200 for vertical, which is 100, which is exactly at the speed limit and thus not modified.
(again, read up on your right triangles to see why this is)

so the projectile is now traveling 100 speed horizontal and 100 speed vertical. the projectile ends up going at a 45 degree angle.

Yeah, ideally I want people to have fun with this and would really rather not burden anyone with any hypothetical personal issues that I may or may not have.

I'd love to do it myself if normally, but I'm in the middle of a short holiday. I'm lame with pixel art and haven't really gotten into race making, but Babe Magnet's efforts have really been inspiring and I think a barely-conscious animal people that can be all kinds would be a great addition, and also running the gamut decreases the desire of others to make more "Fox People"/"Cat People"/"Wolf People".
Your Computer's sketches are great. They don't have to be Moreau-esque in that they are inhuman, covered in scars and sores, and generally disfigured, I just mean if we're doing animal folk I'd certainly prefer a cartoonish style over the faux-anime style a lot of the races are going for. More Bugs Bunny than Shadowfox Nightsword the Wolf-fox. Plus, the Bunny Sarcophagi you find in Avian tombs make for a good template.

I'm working on one, as it happens. Less rock and more gemstone, though. I'm tentatively calling them Geodes, though the name may be subject to change. They evolved to sapience under a strange sun waaaay on the uncharted rear end-end of the universe, untouched by any other intelligent life until a human escapee crashlanded on their little dirtball. They're made up of formations of rocks and gemstones held together in a vaguely humanoid fashion by a low level magnetic field, and their brains/cores are enormous crystals that function as advanced fiber optics networks, saving information as light patterns. They can also project light patterns to communicate, and I'm hoping to work some sort of light-bending racial tech in somewhere.

Unfortunately for the Geodes, their cores make them very valuable for all the wrong reasons, and they're viewed as a resource rather than a sentient race proper by the rest of space. Word was spread of their qualities by the escapee, after they helped fix his ship, and they were driven away from their homeworld by headhunters, forced to live in small, nomadic colonies to avoid discovery. Some geodes even turn to the dark side, and use their connections to hunt down their fellow gems, becoming something like black market barons.

All of their starting clothes and much of their armor are long, large, or otherwise billowing garments to better hide their form. I'm thinking their ship will be a sort of just-lifted-out-of-the-ground cave looking thing, interspersed with gems and a big old gemstone in the center of it that projects an overlay hologram of their home planet's environs over the ship when active, so they can take their home with them wherever they go. That's about as far as I got, though. Sorry for the tl;dr effortpost, I'm just kind of exited about the project.
