And yes, that would be an International we're looking at, which seems far too nice for that dump bed slapped on it.

Basically summed up my thoughts. it was pristine looking other than the lovely dump bed. An older guy owned it.

These are some ridiculous lengths Plymouth went to just to claim their car was "indestructable" during the mid 1930s. The video is all stunts, wrecks, obvious editing trickery at times, and just badass art-deco destruction.

I feel like their citation of torture as the ultimate truth-finding method is some sort of weird analogy for the wrong-headedness that lead to decades of stumbling around as an also-ran until they just folded. Maybe I'm reading into it too much but I feel like even at the time the creepiness of the initial tone of the film would have turned more people off than on.

I gotta say though that I am consistently surprised by how well 30's and 40's cars handle wrecks, rollovers in particular. Granted, I wouldn't want to be INSIDE it, but mechanically, what the hell happened between the 30s and the late 70s?

Well, steel got rare during the war, I imagine sheet metal and frames got a bit thinner. And then we started caring more about the squishy things inside the cars. :v:

This is awesome. I'm also amazed that the railroad tie test didn't gently caress that car up. I have a feeling if I'd do that today in my car, my wheel would break off or something like that.
