I checked out the Bad Religion Christmas album. It's not bad at all.

I wonder if they were going for irony, since few of the selected songs are secular, of if after 30 years Bad Religion is tired of being angsty and did the songs they like.

I'll be honest I always figured this would be something me first and the gimmie gimmies would do, not Bad Religion.

Regardless of their intention, I can't help but feel like this will be blasting un-ironically from hundreds of thousands of cool christian camp counselors speakers this summer.

edit: OnlyJuanMon - Thats my vote for your band name: cool christian camp counselors

If this is an appropriate place to discuss grindcore, just wanted to remind y'all that Discordance Axis and Gridlink are great, and if you slept on em you might want to give them a try.

Greg Graffin has said that they just played those songs because they like them, which makes sense. Being non-religious doesn't preclude genuinely enjoying religious art.

On the other hand, all proceeds are going to benefit Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, so my guess is it's operating ironically on at least one level.

Gridlink seem to be calling it quits from what I can tell, but new album Longhena is coming out. I managed to buy one of the preorder Japanese tour shirts which is awesome though.

Longhena? Is it Dodonpachi-themed or some poo poo?

e: Holy balls it is, they released a track called "Ketsui". Cool to see Jon Chang is a Cave fan.

The new Republic of Wolves album is out and it's fantastic. This is the band whose songs a few years ago were mistaken for Brand New demos. They sound pretty different nowadays. Greenville, MO is the standout for me right now.

Final Prayer is a cool band imo. Big names would be Death before Dishonour or Madball. Also check out No Turning Back, Born from Pain, Hoods.

To be fair, Touche Amore got robbed in the exact same spot. I'll leave the rest of Detroit out of this, but if you park your van in whatever area those dudes parked their van you are probably getting your poo poo stolen.

Bane will be releasing one last full length and then calling it quits by the sounds of things.

Bane have hit Gateway Studios with Jay Maas (Defeater) to record their fourth and final full-length, Don't Wait Up. A 2014 release is expected via Equal Vision, and will be the band's first new album since 2005's The Note — though they've released a series of 7-inches via various labels in the interim. Guitarist Aaron Dalbec had this to say, via press release:
"We are so excited to finally hit the studio to record what will be our final record ... Fans can expect a record that spans the sounds and emotions of nearly 20 years of being a band.”

Bummed, I hope they tour one last time. I'd go see them again (and again and again.)

I guess I need to finally see them live even though I haven't really been into them for a while. Them recording a final album and being done seems really fitting for such a big-name band, though. Shitloads better than just dissolving.

Guess who ordered a ticket to the last last show (the one with Cheap Girls and loving AJJ) during the hour before they sold out? Guess who managed to get a four day weekend so he could visit family in Jersey and just take the PATH into the city and is going to share the recording of the show once it's out?

This guy.

Don't feel too bad about waiting too long to get tickets though, because it was just like the ASoB reunion: They went on sale and were gone in like 40 minutes and now people are scalping them for a hundo.

It's 150 for a fifteen dollar punk show. Stubhub's insane and people are assholes, it's why Jeff kept adding shows, just like with the ASoB reunion.
