I don't get the schedule - so there are already events in progress but the opening ceremony is yet to happen? Why is the ~~tire fire~~ Olympic flame burning, then? I thought it is meant to be ignited by the torch during the ceremony, not earlier.

in the summer games football/soccer starts before the flame lights

but this is the first time they've ever done this in the winter
